2020.09.21 12:21 eng001 [breeds] help choosing a breed. Is a mini poodle for me?

Introduction
I left the introduction to last but I think the questions have covered everything I can think of
1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?
2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder?
3) Describe your ideal dog.
4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?
5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?
6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?
Care Commitments
7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?
8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?
9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
10) What size dog are you looking for?
11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?
12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?
Dog Personality and Behavior
13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?
14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?
15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?
16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?
17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?
Lifestyle
18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?
19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?
20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?
21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?
22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?
23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?
24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?

2020.09.19 04:35 Miidguard Looking to do a full upgrade

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Extra info or particulars:
I live fairly close to a Umart within Brisbane so that would be my first choice of retailer as I can go pickup the parts, but I am happy to get parts from elsewhere.

2020.09.18 22:06 Moszerker [Aus/NZ]33-M-PC - Rocket League, Sea of Thieves, Deep Rock Galactic - Looking for legit gamer pals!

I'm looking for a small amount of very specific people to regularly play games with and to ultimately consider great gamerpals! With that in mind and to potentially save us both some time, please read through my post thoroughly to confirm if you're looking for the same things before posting/DM/adding me. I know this makes me sound like a cunt/robot, but I've been at this for years now and although I've found about 4 people I now consider to be good friends from Gamerpals, I've probably added 50+ people who... let's just say, weren't a good fit ;)
About me;
My reason for posting on Gamerpals; I'd ideally like to have friends list of about 15-20 people of similarly active and like minded friends so we've always got enough people to play whatever game we're currently playing.
The games I'm currently playing;
Games I'm currently looking forward to;
Genres and games I've played significantly in the past include;
Requirements about you;
Reasons I've removed people I met from Gamerpals in the past include (but are definitely not limited to);
If you've made it this far and are still interested, I've got one more test for you! Add me on Steam, Discord: Moszerker#7510 or send a DM and initiate the conversation with a fun fact about yourself!

2020.09.17 14:04 AnimalLover_3 Can anyone recommend a GP on the Southside?

Hi, I have a number of chronic conditions and I am looking for a thorough, empathic and compassionate GP on the Southside of Brisbane.
I live in Sunnybank Hills but I'm happy to drive 10 - 15 minutes nearby.
Bulk billing is preferable but not a must - I would much rather pay for quality care instead of bulk billed for not being heard or rushed through the door.
I don't mind if the GP is male or female or what their ethnicity is. Ideally I would love it if they were aware of mental health conditions so they can liase with my psychiatrist and psychologist and have a HAES (healthy at every size) approach to liase with Eating Disorders Qld (EDQ) and Centre For Integrative Health (CFIH).
I don't feel connected with my current GP of nearly 20 years (since I was a child) and my psychiatrist often plays the role of my GP.
I'm open to any advice or recommendations!
Thanks 😀

2020.09.16 05:19 Ryinth [Paid] Urban Fantasy Audiobook (Female voice)

We're the project team behind Ash & Blue - a weekly UF serial we've been working on for the last few years. A&B (previously published as "Require: Cookie") is, at the moment, text-only, something we're looking to change with an audiobook adaptation. (The audiobook will be released both as a completed work and as a podcast).
If this were AO3, some of the tags you might see associated with A&B are things like: found family, queer characters, mental illness. Also, there's magic. :P
The basic premise revolves around an organisation that is essentially the Men in Black, but for magic but from a story side of things, it's focused on a mentally ill nerd who would like to find somewhere in the world where she belongs.
Accent: It takes place in Australia (Brisbane, to be exact), but we're fairly open on accent (Aussie, UK and US accents are welcome to audition).
Content: It's important to know we have a lot of queer characters and content, and I unfortunately know that's a deal breaker for some VAs. We also have a degree of sexual content (well, will do in the future, the first book is pretty chaste).
Engineering: Ideally, you will also be able to do some minor audio engineering work (placing music under certain pieces of dialogue, etc).
Pay: Up to $120 per finished hour, paid by the minute. Payments will be made via PayPal.
Let me know any questions you may have or clarifications you might need, and I look forward to your audition.

I think that's pretty much the season, right? Other than whatever's notable about Brooke and Flick, whoever they are?
So as you can tell I know a fair amount of the broad, general stuff about the overall characters, etc. -- but in terms of game events, it's reaaally just, like, "one tribe dominates, featuring Gretchen and Hunter prominently. A lot of Redditors were upset because nobody was 'playing the game.' Then Kristie wins as an outsider or otherwise underdog or something based on telling everyone they all thought she was crazy, and it retroactively redeems things" -- like in terms of specific events I don't know much here, other than the legendary Peter quit that brought Brisbane to its knees, obviously. And I want to say Phoebe finds and plays an Idol, or possibly two Idols, or possibly gets Idol'd out, but any or all of those things could possibly have happened on All-Stars instead, I don't know.
Ideally don't spoil me on any game events or really even any general things beyond what I've stated. If you think it's a spoiler, the answer is yes. If you think it MIGHT be a spoiler, the answer is yes. If you think that it's almost definitely not a spoiler but some really really really broad definition of spoilers by someone who's borderline obsessive about it might POSSIBLY classify it as a spoiler if they're REALl---the answer is yes.
If I am watching something my goal is to know nothing about it going in, because nobody knew anything about this while it was airing (other than that Sue's move was going to be a veritable tidal wave of move-i-ness, on such a scale that it submerged the Maldives entirely. [Is climate change Sue's move? Should I be rooting against her? Is she why California's orange? Dammit, Sue!]) So, I want that experience. There is no need to tell me "Yeah Phoebe is cool because X" (even if X is "she gives good confessionals" or whatever), because I will learn it in time, because I am watching the season, and we can all commiserate at that point in time about how cool it was when she really... put... Rohan in his place... or whatever it is she's going to do. So if it pertains to an episode that I have not seen yet, even vaguely, then please do not say it. Thanks.
Of course I opened this post on basically spoiling anyone who hasn't seen this on one of the finalists but, hey, maybe that'll just make them assume HunteEl mak-GOD DAMMIT I DID IT GAIN-e the final two. Plus, pfft, it's my subreddit my rules. That and mostly I figure most people reading this sub have seen or will never see this and so it was worth the trade-off to post the funny title.
As to why this one: the Sam Webb thing was sincere, though not the full story. Obviously what Kristie's deal is is supremely interesting to me, I don't know much about her beyond very broad things and that she is well-liked. Additionally I know a lot of the complaints about this season were about the "slow" post-merge but a ton of my favorite TV gets criticized for being "slow" so like if it's a slow early post-merge that builds up to making the Kristie win even more satisfying that sounds like a good thing to me??? maybe??? we'll see. Like and a LOOOOT of the complaints I saw at the time were "this is dumb, no one's playing the game" or "ugh they need to stop talking about loyalty and 'mateship' and honor it's getting so old" and, uh, hi, Dabu here! Welcome to my subreddit. If you don't know why a season where people apparently spend too much time talking about and valuing loyalty and honor and all that instead of hyperactive strategy might appeal to me, then let it be known that I also created Savageantu, and that should fill in the gaps for you.
Lee and Sam seem SUPREMELY interesting to me as my understanding is they're two of the biggest mateship-oriented mates, and then more particularly: Lee making FTC and losing seems like an absolutely wicked deconstruction of the whole Hunter Ellis, Andrew Savage type of archetype because usually those guys get dethroned as threats but one of them making the end and LOSING sounds like a totally different thing? that I'm super interested in, and maybe it's just that he doesn't make enough big moves or whatev---I mean look, we can't all be Sue---er, in which case I'll be disappointed, but my understanding is more so that a.) Kristie KILLS IT; we stan, and b.) his sincere values come off as really moralizing and it alienates the jury (or at least, like, Iadanza Has A Podcast) and so it actually hurts his game? A la Neleh? I LOVE me some Neleh! So yeah Lee sounds super interesting to me.
Meanwhile Sam Webb is apparently fundamentally similar while also having a giant tattoo of a web due to his last name being Webb and apparently at one part he says "bacons" instead of "bacon" and has one or two other quirky moments I've forgotten about over the past four years which I saw people criticize as him being "dumb" but to me they make me picture basically this "Eddie Fox, only this time he's actually endearing BEFORE just his final confessional" type character instead and that combined with any even tenuous similarity to Hunter Ellis, as well as him actually having a super heroic job irl!, are enough for me to be solidly INTRIGUED.
Also: there exists a Kate, possibly?
Any and all recommendations of "X is a better international season" are theoretically appreciated but will be flatly disregarded until such time as I either finish this season or once again give up on it due to its massive length as I did previously; I have been committed to watching this before any other international season since basically when it aired, considering it's the one I'm most aware of and that the things I am aware of literally all seem interesting. So maybe I'll check out the others!, but not just yet. Ausvivor 2016 first.
Let's goooo

2020.09.11 23:39 SnooMo87 Where to live between Gold Coast and Brisbane?

Hey, good rainy Saturday from Melbourne.
After living the current situation in Melbourne, we have made the decision of moving out in the next 6 to 12 months.
We have discussed the different options and we have decided the most convinient area will be between Northern NSW and Brisbane due to a few personal reasons.
We are not too familiar with the area between the GC and Brisbane, so looking for some guidance to start checking realestate.
We would prefer to be closer to GC than Brisbane if possible, but at this stage everything is open for consideration. We are a couple, kids might be happening in the next couple of years. We want a house with some acreage, preferibly in a bushy area (no apartments, no city). Ideally a town with basic services is 10-15mins drive, and either Brisbane or GC 30mins away tops. A little nice town with a welcoming community would be ideal 😜
Any suggestions?!
Thanks

By-Elections Interviews - IND Candidate for Brisbane - Explosivo2002

Chad: Thank you for sitting down with me today. Explosivo: Pleasure to be here with you Chad. Chad: First up, why did you leave the SDP? You mentioned that they have been dragged further to the left, while MattMonti claims they have been dragged further to the centre. Explosivo: Well, at the time I left the SDP, I was looking at possibly coming back into the political arena, and I had started to become a bit disillusioned with just where I saw the party was heading. I have always been someone who wants to vote for what's best for the people I represent, instead of having to bow to any present ideology in the chamber, and staying in the SDP was not ideal for me in that regard.
As for what the Member for Mayo says, I think that honestly has to do with the Country Labor Coalition, as they are a party that is very much more centrist in Australian politics then the SDP. From where I stand though, the SDP as a party have lost some of those policies that kept them in the centre, and begun to drift towards what I'm sure they see as a more solid voting base on the left. Chad: You’ve come back to the ‘political arena’ to run for Brisbane. Why’s that?
Explosivo: Well, following my ultimately short lived retirement, I continued to live in Brisbane, as I had during my tenure as Senator for Queensland. Now, after only a few weeks outside of Canberra, you begin to very quickly realise just how separated from reality many politicians are, and just how much the people actually want a voice who speaks for them instead of simply the party who put them there. Upon seeing this seat become open thanks to the expulsion of PineappleCrusher_, I thought that I should give this community a chance to elect somebody outside of the party system, and someone who will actually do what is best for his community.
Chad: It appears to be a 3 candidate race, between yourself, the Liberal Party and the Australian Democrats. How do you rate your chances at taking the seat, and will you be releasing a How to Vote Card, as you could effectively decide the race? Explosivo: Well, if I didn’t have some confidence in myself to win, I don’t think I’d be running for the seat at this election. In all honesty however, I do think that we stand a great chance at winning this seat. We have run a strong campaign, we have strong roots in this state and this electorate, and some of our strongest opponents have not fielded strong candidates this time around. So personally, I would rate our chances of making the TPP pretty high, and ultimately think that we stand a great chance of winning this seat, something that will be helped by our How To Vote Card, which we will be releasing for this election. Chad: What is one of your key promises for the electorate? Explosivo: Well, as you have already seen on the campaign trail both today and yesterday, I have advocated for a few core policies if the people of Brisbane give me a shot to be their MP. However, if you were looking for the one I consider the most key, I would have to go for my plans relating to mental health. As I mentioned today, I have and indeed do continue to go through my own battles with depression, so I understand the need in this country to expand our mental health services to ensure that more Australians are getting the adequate levels of treatment, and so we can make sure that no group is left out of those services. We need it in Brisbane, we need it in Queensland, and we need it in Australia, and I will fight tooth and nail for it if I get into Canberra. Chad: Do you have a final statement for undecided voters? Explosivo: Well yes I do Chad. Brisbane, tomorrow is an epoch for your city and for your future. Tomorrow, you go to the ballot box with a choice; do you elect a candidate who represents the status quo of the Canberra bubble, or do you put into office a man who can give each Brisbanite a say in what goes on in their Parliament? You can elect me for change in how your representatives treat you, and you can elect me with the knowledge that I will be dedicated to fighting for you every single day of my term.
Chad: And that wraps our interview up! Thanks so much for attending!

Only 7 teams can finish in the Top 4 now. And there are only 4 spots in the Top 8 remaining with 10 teams competing for those positions.
Explanation of the graphs below: The grey bar is the range of premiership points that a team can get. If a team's current points, the bottom of the grey bar, passes the green dot, that team has qualified. If a team's maximum points, the top of the grey bar, drops below the red dot, that team is eliminated. You can clearly see if a team does not control their own destiny if the green dot is on top of the grey bar. It is therefore, impossible to pass the green dot on their own, instead requiring the green dot drops below the top of the grey bar from other results.

Thanks for reading. Elimination looms for Gold Coast. Need to draw or win against Brisbane (ideally win) to stay alive in the finals race.

2020.09.04 09:47 Stranger_Calm [WeWantOut] 34F Lawyer 44M Tech support USA -> Canada/Australia/New Zealand/Select Caribbean

My husband and I are (to put it extremely mildly) not optimistic about what will happen after Nov. 3, so we are investigating options for leaving the country.
We are US citizens in good physical health, no kids, 1 cat that ideally will go with us. I have a BA from a top university in Human Biology and a JD. I practiced intellectual property litigation for several years before switching to working for the federal government a couple years ago. I speak some super basic Mandarin and Spanish. My husband has an AA in Kinesiology and a BA in Sport/Exercise Science, and has worked in multiple industries, including newspapers. He currently works in user support for a fully remote website publishing company, and we expect he'd be able to keep his job wherever we go.
We're trying to figure out what possible options we might have. My parents are originally from China and naturalized in the 80s, and I have some very extended family in Hong Kong, but those options are not very appealing. Here are the main possibilities so far (although we're open to other options!):
  1. Canada -- I have extended family in Alberta: a grandparent, uncle and aunt, and first cousin (too many to do a sponsorship, alas). I'm not sure if Express Entry as a federal skilled worker is a possibility for me, given the differences between US and Canadian law. I expect it will be difficult if not impossible to find a lawyer job right off the bat given how niche it is, so I'm prepared to end up waiting tables, etc. (and maybe it'll turn out that I can just never be a lawyer elsewhere).
  2. Australia/New Zealand -- My husband has a first cousin who married an Australian and lives in the Brisbane area. We don't have any family connections to NZ, but we traveled there in 2018 and it was one of the best places we've ever traveled. I confess I haven't yet done any investigation into what immigration to either entails. Same job problem for me, too.
  3. Select Caribbean -- Basically, any country that essentially lets you buy citizenship/second passport, e.g., St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua, Dominica, Grenada. Any recommendations on a particular country would be very welcome. It also sounds like hiring an agent/lawyer would be necessary, so any suggestions or referrals would be really helpful, since I'm wary of getting scammed out of $$$$$$.
Our primary concerns are mainly which option is the most viable and takes the least amount of time. I'm guessing it's probably option #3, which will still take some time to get together. Or if we're just screwed and should funnel our resources toward doomsday prepping instead, that would be good to know. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Finals Status After Round 14
Hello again, with four more round of football, today there will be a little more analysis on each team's run home. The run home analysis will include mathematically and practically points requirements for each team. Practical requirements are based on 10,000 simulations of my glicko ratings.

Note on Melbourne's Top 8 max t[k] be different from the rest of the teams which control their destiny, because Melbourne play GWS and Fremantle, and those two teams are below them and play each other, Melbourne only require 42 points to qualify rather than other teams 44 points.
Explanation of the graphs below: The grey bar is the range of premiership points that a team can get. If a team's current points, the bottom of the grey bar, passes the green dot, that team has qualified. The Qualified

1st Port Adelaide 11 wins, 3 losses, 128%.
R15 Bye (You guys know how this goes.)
R16 vs. NM @ Carrara
R17 vs. Ess @ Adelaide Oval
R18 vs. Coll TBC
With 44 points, Port Adelaide have achieved enough points to qualify for finals. Port Adelaide will be looking to achieve a Top 4 spot, and preferably a Top 2 spot to be awarded 2 home finals (likely at the Adelaide Oval). The game against North should be penciled in as a victory, and they should enter the other matches as medium-sized favourites.
Points to guarantee Top 4: 6 points
Points to guarantee Top 8: Already Qualified
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: 4 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: Already Qualified
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 0 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: Already Qualified

The Penciled-In

2nd Geelong 10 wins, 4 losses, 139%.
R15 Bye
R16 vs. Ess @ Gabba
R17 vs. Rich @ Carrara
R18 vs. Syd TBC
A single win will guarantee Geelong's position in the finals, however, they have practically already qualified. Geelong's aim will be a Top 4 and a Top 2 position (not that is matters) is not off the table. Geelong's large percentage mean that a dropped game from Port Adelaide or Brisbane will place Geelong above them. Geelong should beat Essendon and Sydney, but the game against Richmond is crucial for their Top 4 aspirations.
Points to guarantee Top 4: 10 points
Points to guarantee Top 8: 4 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: 8 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 0 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 0 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 0 points
3rd Brisbane Lions/BBFFC 10 wins, 3 losses, 117%.
R15 vs. Coll @ Gabba
R16 vs. GC @ Gabba
R17 vs. Syd @ Cazaly's Stadium
R18 vs. Carl TBC
As with, Geelong, Brisbane need 4 points to guarantee a finals place, however, they have also practically qualified. Brisbane are aiming for a Top 4 position as well as a Top 2 position, as their home finals will be at the Gabba. Brisbane run home includes 3 games they should easily win as well as a more difficult game against Collingwood where they should enter favourites.
4th Richmond 9 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw, 121%.
R15 vs. Frem @ Carrara
R16 Bye
R17 vs. Geel @ Carrara
R18 vs. Adel TBC
Richmond's last three games are a mixed bag. Two games should be easy beats, while the game against Geelong is crucial but difficult. Richmond need just a draw to practically qualify, and 6 points to guarantee that position. Richmond cannot lose from here if they want to practically and/or mathematically guarantee a Top 4 place.
Points to guarantee Top 4: 12 points
Points to guarantee Top 8: 6 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: 10 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 2 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 0 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 0 points
5th West Coast 9 wins, 4 losses 115%.
R15 vs. Ess @ Gabba
R16 vs. WB @ Carrara
R17 vs. StK @ Gabba
R18 vs. NM TBC (Maybe Perth Stadium if the AFL doesn't have integrity. So Perth Stadium it is)
West Coast loss to Richmond has hurt their Top 4 chances but they still control their destiny on this matter. Just 8 points needed to guarantee a finals position but 4 points will get them in in reality. West Coast have 4 games which they should be heavy favourites in, but can't afford to drop more than 2 of them. Chances will be helped if their stack of $100M dollars is put to use in buying a home "away" game.
Points to guarantee Top 4: 14 points
Points to guarantee Top 8: 8 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: 12 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 4 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 2 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 0 points

The Contenders

6th Collingwood 8 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw 112%.
R15 vs. BL @ Gabba
R16 vs. Bye
R17 vs. GC @ Gabba
R18 vs. PA TBC
Collingwood's win on the weekend has significantly helped their finals chances, however, their run home is one of the more difficult ones. The game against Gold Coast should be a win. But they will likely open outsiders against Brisbane and Port Adelaide. 1 win won't be enough to practically guarantee a spot, but 38 points is still likely enough to play finals. The game against Gold Coast, therefore, becomes a must win for the Pies.
Points to guarantee Top 4: Do not control destiny
Points to guarantee Top 8: 10 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: Can't reach 48 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 6 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 4 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 0 points
7th St Kilda 8 wins, 6 losses, 113%.
R15 vs. Bye
R16 vs. Haw @ Carrara
R17 vs. WC @ Gabba
R18 vs. GWS TBC
St Kilda's loss against Melbourne (keep it civil), has put them from almost certain to make finals, to playing a defensive game. St Kilda's chances of a Top 4 spot are now all but gone, and will now be focusing on keeping their position in the Top 8. All these games are winnable for the Saints, and are therefore, very likely to play finals from here. They will need 2 wins to practically guarantee their spot, but 1 win will be enough to give them a good chance. 3 wins will mathematically guarantee their spot.
Points to guarantee Top 4: Do not control destiny
Points to guarantee Top 8: 12 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: Can't reach 48 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 8 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 6 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 0 points
8th Melbourne 7 wins, 6 losses, 112%.
R15 vs. Syd @ Cazaly's Stadium
R16 vs. Frem @ Cazaly's Stadium
R17 vs. GWS @ Gabba
R18 vs. Ess TBC
Melbourne's controversial win against the Saints (again, please keep it civil), Has put them in a prime position for a finals berth for just the second time in 14 seasons. Melbourne have one of the softest draws with all 4 games being winnable. The game against GWS is the most important as a win will create a buffer between the two clubs. 3 wins will be enough. 2 and they are still a chance. Would have to get seriously lucky if they get only 1 win.
Points to guarantee Top 4: Do not control destiny
Points to guarantee Top 8: 14 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: Can't reach 48 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 12 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 10 points

9th Greater Western Sydney 7 wins, 6 losses, 102%.
R15 vs. Carl @ Carrara
R16 vs. Adel @ Adelaide Oval
R17 vs. Melb @ Gabba
R18 vs. StK TBC
GWS smashing of Fremantle has also put in the box seat for a finals position. Last years loser's of the Grand Final also have a cushy draw, with all 4 games easily winnable. 3 wins will likely be enough, 4 to guarantee. 2 wins gives them a chance. 1 win will require a miracle. If they go winless, there is zero chance. Average percentage doesn't help.
Points to guarantee Top 4: Do not control destiny
Points to guarantee Top 8: 16 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: Can't reach 48 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 12 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 10 points

10th Western Bulldogs/FFC 7 wins, 7 losses, 100%.
R15 vs. Bye
R16 vs. WC @ Carrara
R17 vs. Haw @ Adelaide Oval
R18 vs. Frem TBC (Could be Perth again, at least Fremantle have a better excuse, they are the home team.)
The Dogs loss on Friday night was a golden opportunity wasted. At 7 losses for the season, it's going to be real tough for the Dogs from here. The Dogs don't control their destiny, and will in a worst case scenario, require some match results to go their way. Though, 3 wins will still likely be enough for them. Like Richmond, the Dogs have two easy beats, and a very difficult match, this time, instead, against West Coast. 2 wins is most likely for the Dogs, and that still gives them a good chance. 1 win requires a miracle, and no wins will eliminate the Dogs.
Points to guarantee Top 4: Do not control destiny
Points to guarantee Top 8: Do not control destiny

Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 12 points

11th Essendon 6 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw, 89%.
R15 vs. WC @ Gabba
R16 vs. Geel @ Gabba
R17 vs. PA @ Adelaide Oval
R18 vs. Melb TBC
Essendon win against Hawthorn has kept their chances alive, yes, but with the toughest run home of any team, Essendon will need to play some fantastic football to be a chance. 4 wins will practically guarantee. And 3 wins will get them in most of the time. 2 wins will give them a chance. 1 win requires a most ridiculous miracle. No wins will eliminate them. Games against 3 of the best 5 teams and another against a red-hot Melbourne, this will surely be one of the great stories of 2020 if Essendon can pull this off. The shocking percentage won't help, but with their draw, it is seldom useful.
Points to guarantee Top 4: Do not control destiny
Points to guarantee Top 8: Do not control destiny
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: Can't reach 48 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 14 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 12 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 4 points
12th Carlton 6 wins, 7 losses, 97%.
R15 vs. GWS @ Gabba
R16 vs. Syd @ Gabba
R17 vs. Adel @ Adelaide Oval
R18 vs. BL TBC
Carlton fans should surely have more hope than Essendon fans. In a similar position but with an easier schedule. 4 wins will practically guarantee their spot, and 3 wins will make finals very likely. 2 wins gives them a chance. 0-1 wins will eliminated Carlton. 3 of their games are winnable, their last game of the season against Brisbane could have serious finals ramifications.
Points to guarantee Top 4: Do not control destiny
Points to guarantee Top 8: Do not control destiny
Points to practically guarantee Top 4: Can't reach 48 points
Points to practically guarantee Top 8: 16 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 4: 14 points
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 6 points

The Improbable

From this category, guarantee stats will be removed as they are non-existent for these teams. Instead, I will only list the minimum amount of points necessary to give them a chance for finals. None of these teams can make the Top 4.
13th Gold Coast 5 wins, 8 losses, 1 draw, 102%.
R15 vs. Bye
R16 vs. BL @ Gabba
R17 vs. Coll @ Gabba
R18 vs. Haw TBC
Gold Coast fans have a lot to hope for next year, but finals this year seems like an extremely difficult task. Gold Coast need at least 2 wins to have any chance of finals. But anything other than 3 wins would results in extremely unlikely and messy scenarios. 3 wins will give them a very slight chance. Their draw doesn't make that task easy however. Every game is must win for Gold Coast. Games against Brisbane and Collingwood are likely losses and the Hawthorn game will have them slight favourites perhaps. Needless to say, it is improbable for Gold Coast to make finals.
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 8 points
14th Fremantle 5 wins, 8 losses, 89%.
R15 vs. Rich @ Carrara
R16 vs. Melb @ Cazaly's Stadium
R17 vs. NM @ Carrara
R18 vs. WB TBC (Fremantle fans, hope and pray that this is in Perth, you need everything you can get.)
The one advantage that Fremantle have over Gold Coast, is that they have a game in hand. Otherwise, the equation is quite similar. With 4 wins, Fremantle have a chance. 3 wins and they will need a miracle. 2 wins or less and it is all over. Every game is must win, and this starts with a difficult task against premiership favourites Richmond. The other games are potentially winnable.
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 10 points
15th Hawthorn 4 wins, 9 losses, 83%.
R15 vs. Adel @ Adelaide Oval
R16 vs. StK @ Carrara
R17 vs. WB @ Adelaide Oval
R18 vs. GC TBC (York Park would be ideal for Hawthorn, almost never lose there.)
One loss and Hawthorn will be eliminated. One draw, and they stay alive just, but probably not for very long. The scenario is very simple for Hawthorn, win everything and pray. Hawthorn are practically eliminated. The only redeem factor is that Hawthorn would be slight outsiders for their three non-Adelaide matches, but have the ability to win those matches. Knowing Clarko, he'll pull something out of his rear and Hawthorn will win the flag.
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 14 points
16th Sydney 4 wins, 9 losses, 80%.
R15 vs. Melb @ Cazaly's Stadium
R16 vs. Carl @ Carrara
R17 vs. BL @ Cazaly's Stadium
R18 vs. Geel TBC (S.C.G. maybe?)
Identical scenario as Hawthorn, just with harder opponents. 4 wins and a miracle.
Points to have a chance to qualify for Top 8: 14 points

The Eliminated

By now you should have faded your flares. Here's your remaining games anyway.
17th North Melbourne 3 wins, 11 losses, 76%.
R15 vs. Bye
R16 vs. PA @ Carrara
R17 vs. Frem @ Carrara
R18 vs. WC TBC
18th Adelaide 0 wins, 13 losses, 55%. (Can they get a win?)
R15 vs. Haw @ Adelaide Oval
R16 vs. GWS @ Adelaide Oval
R17 vs. Carl @ Carrara
R18 vs. Rich TBC

Thanks for reading, this is a long one.
Edit: Carlton points to have chance of Top 8 was 4, changed to 6.

2020.08.28 18:46 Ayann2001 New to Brisbane!!

Hi, I’m new to the city and would like to ask some brief questions. I’ve moved here for work from Perth and I am looking to get settled in as soon as possible.Making friends in a new city when you are making a whole new start isn’t always easy.
So I would like to ask if you guys would know which suburbs/area has a good Persian populace. My background is Iranian and would like to make some Iranian friends to tip my toe in the water and get familiar in this amazing city.
Which good Persian food chains are there in Brisbane? Which area has a good Persian populace as I am currently also in the process of house hunting and would ideally want to move close to that area.
Is there a good Persian number of people in Brisbane like Perth?
Thank you for your patience 🤲

2020.08.18 03:36 jamescridland Free postcards? Where from?

The newsletter that I write is about to hit 15,000 subscribers, and I'm going to send laptop stickers to people who ask. That typically means a lot of letters all over the world with a few little laptop stickers in them, and to stiffen the envelope up, I'd like some postcards.
The last time I did this, my local coffee shop had postcards that were advertising events at GOMA and other similar places. They were great for this purpose - something Australian that I could scribble on, but looked pretty, and brightened the mailing up a little. As long as I didn't take too many at once, they were perfect for this.
What with the, you know [gestures outside helplessly] I doubt there are going to be many of those events going on. But does anyone know where I might be able to get a hundred or so postcards like this, or something similar, ideally free? (They can be out of date, of course, and I was hoping someone might know somewhere with a box or two of old postcards that otherwise would be heading to the dump).
People are genuinely thrilled to get something through the post from as far away as Australia. It took me rather by surprise. So it would be nice to get something that's positive about Queensland or Brisbane.

2020.08.15 00:24 cellboosteroz The Ultimate Guide to 4G Mobile Signal Boosters

With technological advances every day, the 21st century calls for smart devices to solve the problems these advances can bring. Mobile Signal booster is a device which helps boost weak signals in the area and provide better connectivity. If you are using a 4G connection in Australia, you can easily get a quality mobile booster. To understand the specifics about 4G mobile signal boosters, we first need to understand how the fourth generation network works.

The Evolution of Networks

While talking about networks, we use the term ‘Generation’. This term refers to a collection of telephone network standards which shows how technology would be implemented for a specific mobile phone system.

1G – The oldest network

The advancement started with the introduction of 1G in 1987 by Telstra. Australia’s first interaction with data connectivity was due to the 1G Analog. The network ran through the AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System) network. Once the network gained momentum, there were around 2 million subscribers.

2G – Second Generation

Telecom, now known as Telstra introduced the second generation of the network in 1993. The new advancement brought features like text messaging, multimedia messaging, internet, and the Sim card. It used GSM ( Global System for Mobile Communication) for handling the data transmission.

3G – Third Generation

This development was a stepping stone among generations of the network. 3G brought a revolutionary change for how the internet was used. It was introduced in 2005 and provided data services to more than 50% of the population in Australia. The technology used here is called UMTS – Universal Mobile Telecommunications System.

What is 4G?

The fourth generation is the fourth network which revolutionized the world of data connectivity and networking. 4G provides the fastest data connectivity and internet services in comparison to the previous networks. In Australia, 4G also refers to LTE – Long Term Evolution.
4G LTE works on various frequencies depending on your geographical location. Here, you would generally find a frequency of 1800 MHz. This network provides you with a download speed up to 100mbps and uploads 50 mbps. The latency is reduced from 300 milliseconds to 100 milliseconds. In most areas of Australia, you will find a bandwidth of 15 MHz.
During peak hours, the network frequency is reduced. This often leaves you with lower upload or download speed. You can solve this problem by investing in a quality 4G cell booster for your home, office, hotel, or car. Before getting into the working of a 4G mobile booster, let’s understand how 4G will benefit you as a user.

Benefits of 4G Network

Quick data transmission

4G provides faster speed for transferring data over the internet. The speed of a 4G network is expected to be ten times faster than a 3G network. This is good news for people who use smartphones for a longer period. Your videos will load faster, movies will be downloaded faster with less or no buffer time. With 4G, you will get high-resolution videos and audio of high-quality.

Social Interactions

With the 4G network, social interaction has become easier. You can video call each other with high-quality audio and video resolutions. You will not lose network bandwidth even when you are on the move. Maintaining long-distance social interactions has now become easy and convenient.

Business Industries

4G is impacting every sector including the business industry. Companies have added benefits of using this fast-speed technology for cloud services, quick browsing, creating websites and mobile apps, and much more.

Higher Bandwidth

4G has a higher bandwidth when compared to the previous networks. It covers a larger geographical area providing high-speed data and internet to various parts of Australia.

How is 4G different from 3G?

The third and fourth generation of the network varies in various aspects. The key difference is the data transfer speed and internet connectivity.

What is 4G/LTE in Australia?

Major companies like Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone provide fast 4G network services in Australia. Today’s mobile phones come equipped with the specifics necessary for 4G/LTE. If you are using a 4G network but still face issues like weak signals, call drops, or voice-breaking at your home or office, you need a 4G signal booster. Cell Booster Australia provides you with quality cell boosters to improve your 4G data connectivity.
Telstra launched the 4G network in Australia in September 2011. By December 2012, the company had more than 8,00,000 4G consumers. They currently cover almost every region in the country. The company claims to cover 40% of the country’s population. But, their data and call plans are quite expensive when compared to companies like Optus and Vodafone. Since so many users actively utilize the same network, there is a sharing of data. This leads to slow upload/download speed. If you wish to get high-speed data, buy a Mobile signal booster for your home.
Optus has spent a large amount to roll out in all parts of Australia. It is working on growing its customer reach. It has covered areas like Brisbane CBD, Perth, Surfer’s Paradise, Newcastle ) and Melbourne. On the other hand, Vodafone is also offering lucrative plans to its users. The 4G rollout has been a success as consumers are enjoying high-speed data transmission. Several people have already purchased a Vodafone cell booster for their homes and offices.

Things to remember while using 4G!

4G is an advanced technology revolutionizing the network and data industry. It is faster, better, and more efficient than 3G. But, there are a few things to keep in mind when you start using the new network. Here is a list of things for you to remember.

How will a 4G mobile signal booster work for you?

There are times when you may face low receptions or connectivity issues. You are making an important call and you face call drop issues. You may have 2 or 3 bars on your network and never get a strong signal. While uploading an important file you face slow speed whereas you need it to be done in 5 minutes. You can solve all these problems by investing in a simple yet effective device known as a 4G Mobile Signal Booster.
With a 4G cell booster, you will receive five bars and strong signals all the time. The 4G network is used widely by all people in the country. Since there are three major leaders in Australia, Telstra being the oldest one, it has more users for the 4G network. With so many users, the concept of data sharing has been introduced. You will automatically get a slower speed when a lot of users are using the same network. How do you deal with this situation? You get a cell booster for your office or home. This will provide you with a faster speed even during peak time.
The Mobile Signal Booster has three components – the inside antenna, amplifier, and the outside antenna. It is very easy and simple to install. Once you have installed the device, it will catch on the weak radio signals matching its frequency range. The Amplifier works to boost the signal to provide better connectivity. The inside antenna releases the boosted signals in the network increasing your data speed. In the case of 4G, you need a 4G signal booster to provide the best connectivity.

Is a 4G Signal Booster the best choice?

Let’s take an example. You are in your office where everyone uses 4G services to transfer data and make calls. Now, what if everyone faces situations like call drops and weak signals? Is it an ideal situation to be? Even thinking about it, you wouldn’t want to face something like this. You can work in an office with dedication only if you have a proper connection.
Now, we have installed a 4G mobile signal booster at your office. The situation in your workplace has improved now. Employees can easily make international calls and attend zoom calls. You can update your website without sling connection. Even if employees are using the same network, there are no issues of poor reception or slow data transfer. If you have a task you need to accomplish urgently, you can do that while enjoying full data connectivity.
We recommend you the best solutions. Mobile Boosters has created cell boosters for different networks like 3G and 4G for years now. 2020.08.06 12:13 mycatsnameiskirk The Run Home - who each team is still to play

With Round 13 being announced, there are only 5 unannounced rounds before we hit finals, giving each team 4/5 teams to play. Let's see where each team is lining up - and maybe speculate as to where they might be playing.

Adelaide (Current ladder position: 18)
Announced: Collingwood (R11), Bulldogs (R12), Geelong (R13)
Still to play: Bye, Carlton, GWS, Hawthorn, Richmond.
Things aren't looking good for the crows. No real surprises here in terms of locations, the only question will be whether they will lose to themselves in their bye week.

Brisbane (2)
Announced: Bulldogs (R11), North Melbourne (R12), St Kilda (R13)
Still to play: Bye, Carlton, Collingwood, Gold Coast, Sydney
With only the Bulldogs and Saints currently in the 8, this looks to be an easy run home for the lions. With a bye in hand, you have to say the Lions are in prime position for a flag run.

Carlton (13)
Announced: West Coast (R11), Fremantle (R12), Gold Coast (R13)
Still to play: Adelaide, Brisbane, Collingwood, GWS, Sydney
After their trip west, you would suspect that Carlton will spend the rest of the season in Queensland. With GWS and Sydney to come, I wonder whether the AFL were hoping for a couple of NSW games to round out the season.

Collingwood (10)
Announced: Adelaide (R11), Melbourne (R12), North Melbourne (R13)
Still to play: Bye, Brisbane, Carlton, Gold Coast, Port Adelaide
Still to play the current top two teams, but every other team is currently below them. Could well pick up a few wins to sneak into the 8.

Essendon (9)
Announced: Gold Coast (R11), St Kilda (R12), Richmond (R13)
Still to play: Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Port Adelaide, West Coast
Run home includes games against teams currently ranked 5, 6 and 2. Might be a struggle to make the 8 but no reason why they can't.

Fremantle (16)
Announced: Hawthorn (R11), Carlton (R12), Sydney (R13)
Still to play: GWS, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond, Western Bulldogs
With GWS already in the west, you would expect that to be a straightforward R14 match. Richmond, North Melbourne and the Bulldogs have to play West Coast as well, so you would expect them to trot over to the West for those matches. Suspect that Melbourne might then be Fremantle's last matchof the season, with the AFL to wait and see where the match is to be held.

Geelong (5)
Announced: St Kilda (R11), Port Adelaide (R12), Adelaide (R13)
Still to play: Essendon, Bye, Richmond, Sydney, Bulldogs.
The next couple of rounds will be testing - against teams ranked 4 and 1. The run home sees Richmond and Bulldogs as the only teams in the 8, with Essendon knocking on the door. Not too difficult, so a good run into finals.

Gold Coast (11)
Announced: Essendon (R11), Richmond (R12), Carlton (R13)
Still to play: Brisbane, Collingwood, Bye, Hawthorn, North Melbourne
Gold Coast should expect to be competitive in the run home. Brisbane and Richmond will be tough, but an optimistic person would expect them to win the rest.

GWS Giants (7)
Announced: Bye (R11), Sydney (R12), West Coast (R13)
Still to play: Adelaide, Carlton, Fremantle, Melbourne, St Kilda
Expect Fremantle to be their R14 match, before possibly a trip to Adelaide before facing their final three matches in Queensland. I think GWS would hope for St Kilda to be their final match of the season - lock in a few easy wins, before a good shape up prior to finals.

Hawthorn (14)
Announced: Fremantle (R11), West Coast (R12), Port Adelaide (R13)
Still to play: Adelaide, Essendon, Gold Coast, St Kilda, Bulldogs
After their trip West, you would expect Hawthorn to spend the rest of the season in Queensland. Should be competitive in the run home, but may not make a difference to getting into the 8.

Melbourne (12)
Announced: North Melbourne (R11), Collingwood (R12), Bulldogs (R13)
Still to play: Essendon, Fremantle, GWS, St Kilda, Sydney
Only 2 matches against top 8 sides, plus Essendon, means I think Melbourne would be fairly happy with that. Still plenty of opportunities to be Dee-sappointing though.

North Melbourne (15)
Announced: Melbourne (R11), Brisbane (R12), Collingwood (R13)
Still to play: Fremantle, Gold Coast, Bye, Port Adelaide, West Coast
Perhaps the roughest run home? Between now and the end of the season, they play teams ranked 1, 2 and 6, and only Fremantle ranked below them.

Port Adelaide (1)
Announced: Richmond (R11), Gold Coast (R12), Hawthorn (R13)
Still to play: Collingwood, Essendon, North Melbourne, Bye, Sydney
If they can deal with Richmond this week, Port can pretty much lock the minor premiership away. Hard to see them dropping a game from here.

Richmond (3)
Announced: Port Adelaide (R11), Gold Coast (R12), Essendon (R13)
Still to play: Adelaide, Fremantle, Geelong, Bye, West Coast
Facing teams ranked 1, 5 and 6, the unfortnate thing will be that they will use their bye coming West - perhaps an ideal fixture would be to play Adelaide before coming West so that they can rest up some players. In terms of the best run into Finals, Richmond will know exactly how they are placed.
St Kilda (4)
Announced: Geelong (R11), Essendon (R12), Brisbane (R13)
Still to play: GWS, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Bye, West Coast
The next few weeks will show us whether the Saints have the mettle to come through. If they can get two out of three wins in round 11-13, I think they can lock in a finals appearance, particularly if they manage to play West Coast in Queensland.

Sydney Swans (17)
Announced: Bye (R11), GWS (R12), Fremantle (R13)
Still to play: Brisbane, Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne, Port Adelaide
1, 2 and 5 in the run home. Probably best for the Swans to start blooding some younger players, rest up some stars and start over next year.

West Coast (6)
Announced: Carlton (R11), Hawthorn (R12), GWS (R13)
Still to play: Essendon, North Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda, Bulldogs
Richmond, North and the Bulldogs all have to play Fremantle as well, so those matches are likely to be played in the West. Eagles would hope to play St Kilda in the West and Essendon over east, if they have to leave the state, but wouldn't be surprised if they have two matches in Queensland to round out the season.

Western Bulldogs (8)
Announced: Brisbane (R11), Adelaide (R12), Melbourne (R13)
Still to play: Fremantle, Geelong, Hawthorn, West Coast, Bye
The Dogs wouldn't be upset with this run home. A chance to test themselves against number 2 this week, they have the chance to knock up some easy wins against Adelaide, Melbourne, Freo and Hawthorn, and challenge themselves against Geelong and West Coast. A trip west should be expected, so a round 14 bye following Adelaide and Melbourne should set them up well for the run home. Perhaps hoping for Hawthorn for the final round to go in with a winning feeling into finals.

EDIT: Fixed Richmond's games and analysis. Formatting
