Fun New Allergies

2020.08.15 04:46 sowhatwhocarespod Fun New Allergies

So...I did some kinky shit in college. This was my second relationship and my first serious one. (I was a late bloomer and didn't date anybody until college) I stayed friends with this person and they're currently married which is amazing! I loved their parents and their parents also really liked me which was a welcome change. I was hanging out at their house for the day and was about to head home when they walked me out to their car and said
"I want to tell you what I'm into but don't want to scare you away. I'm going to text you a song that explains what I like and I want you to listen to it."
I'm like...okay cool. I'll try just about anything once. (Sexually. Not drugs. Don't do drugs) They went inside and texted me Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment. I had never listened to the words but this time I did. Were you aware that that song is about BDSM...because I was not. I texted them back Rihanna - S&M because literally every fantasy I had involved rope and blindfolds.
I am going to pause here to explain a teeny bit about the BDSM lifestyle in my experience. I called my dom/girlfriend by their name in public unless I was being a little shit and riling them up, and Mistress when we were texting or playing. I am considered a brat and a rope bunny which means that if you are my dom and you are telling me to do something I will probably tell you to make me. We will do just about anything to rile up our doms and enjoy every second of it knowing damn well that we're going to get punished for it. Which in my case meant being tied up which is what I wanted. Now back to the story. Instead of explaining what happened, I’m just going to put in the conversation that we had through text before the Medieval Lit class we had together.
MIstress: Did you do your homework for class like a good girl?
Me: Nope.
Mistress: Excuse me?
Me: No ma'am.
Mistress: What did you just call me?
Me: Ma'am.
MIstress: If you keep this up I'll have to punish you.
Me: Good. Do it. You won't.
Mistress: You're getting tied up when you come over.
Me: Good.
So I went over thinking that they were going to cuff me to the headboard of their bed like normal but something either happened to the cuffs or they couldn't find them so they used a necktie to bind my wrists. I have sensitive skin and quite a few allergies and use sensitive skin laundry detergent. (GIRL ME TOO)
They did not. After taking 20 whacks with a cane...I got more because I resumed being a bratty little shit...we just hung out and snuggled and just joked around making each other laugh because that's what we did for aftercare after a scene.
I went to work later that day WITH RED MARKS AROUND BOTH MY WRISTS. It looked like I had been arrested and tried to break out of the cuffs. These red marks weren't hives they were straight up RED RINGS around both my wrists! I worked in a kitchen at a grocery store so I blamed it on an allergic reaction to the gloves...I told my dom and we had a good laugh and they made me give them a list of my allergies.

2020.07.15 18:02 LearningIsListening A not-so-brief rundown of letters J-L of Jeffrey Epstein's 'Little Black Book'

Below is a rundown of letters J-L of Epstein's contacts. Last year, I wrote about letters A-C. You can check that out here (https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/cpis3n/a_brief_rundown_of_the_first_ten_pages_of_jeffrey/).
I also wrote about letters D-F on July 5, 2020. You can check that out here (https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/hlrba8/a_notsobrief_rundown_of_letters_df_in_jeffrey/).
I posted letters G-I on July 13, 2020. You can check that out here (https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/hqko0y/a_notsobrief_rundown_of_letters_gi_in_jeffrey/). There are some misspelled names. Epstein entered their names like this.
I have bolded some of the more interesting connections and information, but there could be much more that I overlooked. I hope something here strikes an interest in someone and maybe we can get more investigations out of this. Please, if you know anything more about any of these people than what is presented here, post below. I am working off of the unredacted black book found here: https://www.coreysdigs.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Jeffrey-Epsteins-Little-Black-Book-unredacted.pdf
J-L
Jackson, Michael (Samuel Gen): Yes, this is a reference to MJ the singer. However, the numbers listed are not MJ’s. They belong to Samuel Gen, a lawyer for a financial advisor (Jerry Seinfeld’s brother-in-law) who worked for MJ for a while. This one was a reach for Epstein.
Jacobson, Julian: Likely a reference to a Managing Director at several London-based investment firms.
Jagger, Mick: World-famous lead singer of the Rolling Stones. Has been seen in photographs with Ghislaine Maxwell. Actress Rae Dawn Chong claims she slept with Jagger when she was 15 years old.
Jagger, Hatti: Former fashion director for Vogue, Harper’s, and Tatler. Also works as a celebrity stylist and at fashion shows.
jake: Not enough info.
Jameel, Mohammed: Saudi Arabian businessman. CEO of Abdul Latif Jameel, a collective of family-owned businesses that specialize in transportation, investing, and real estate. Royal pervert Prince Andrew infamously partied on Jameel’s yacht during the 2011 London riots (source: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/prince-andrew-frolicks-on-yacht-with-mystery-147496).
James, Susie: Founder and owner of 123 Send Ltd, a company that provides payment terminals.
Janklow, Linda: Literary agent and wife of Mort Janklow, the primary owner of Janklow & Nesbit Associates, the largest literary agency in the world. Attended a party hosted by Sony Pictures with Epstein, although they are not pictured together (source: https://www.patrickmcmullan.com/search/?event=5b3ef4fb9f92906676446c21). In 2007, Ghislaine Maxwell threw an exclusive party (80 carefully selected guests) at her NYC townhouse to celebrate the opening of a new shop by designer Allegra Hicks (granddaughter-in-law of Earl Mountbatten, who you can read more about in my G-I Epstein thread under India Hicks’s name). One of the eighty guests was Julie Landlow, daughter of Linda and Mort.
Jarecki, Nancy & Andrew: Andrew is a filmmaker, co-founder of Moviefone, and was a producer on Catfish, the documentary that launched the popular MTV show. Andrew’s family was reportedly friends with Jeffrey Epstein. There is an EXCELLENT thread on the connections between the Jarecki family (especially Andrew and Nick’s father, Henry) and Epstein here (source: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1200044576947556352.html). Quick summary: Henry was born in Nazi Germany; flew on the Lolita Express; is an expert in psychotropic drugs; owns two islands in the British Virgin Islands; founded the first youth center in the British Virgin Islands; lived 2 miles from Epstein in NYC; owns and donates to many sketchy foundations, schools, and organizations; has donated at least $1 million to leftist organizations). Andrew’s wife Nancy created bettybeauty, a company that specializes in hair dye for your nether regions (not kidding).
Jarecki, Nick: The movie director brother of Andrew and son of Henry Jarecki (see link under Andrew & Nancy Jarecki for more info). Reportedly dated Courtney Love (also in Epstein’s ‘Black Book’) in 2015. Photographed with Ghislaine Maxwell at a Gucci party (source: https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/ghislaine-maxwell-and-nick-jarecki-attend-gucci-hosts-a-news-photo/591605562).
Jason (canada): Not enough info. Could be artist Jason Wasserman based out of Canada. The second number listed traces back to Station 16 Gallery in Montreal.
Javier: Javier Banon is former Co-head of Merchant Banking at Lehman Brothers and current Founding Partner of Trilantic Europe.
Jeffries, Tim: Ownedirector of Hamiltons Gallery in London. Best known for dating models Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer, Kylie Minogue and Sophie Dahl (also in Epstein’s ‘Black Book’). Jefferies has attended fundraisers for ARK Academy and the NSPCC. He truly cares about children.
Johnson, Richard & Nadine: Nadine is a millionaire public relations guru. Nadine is a good friend of Ghislaine Maxwell’s. Some clients of Nadine Johnson include spirit cooking extraordinaire Marina Abramovic and hotelier Andre Balazs, good friend of Ghislaine. Richard is one of the most well-known gossip columnists and was the editor of Page Six for twenty-five years. There is a great thread detailing the Johnsons’ ties to the Clintons, Balazs, and others here (source: https://threader.app/thread/1162148078981394432). Basically, Richard Johnson is friendly with the Clintons and, as Page Six Editor, purposely did not report or downplayed stories on the Clintons and Nadine’s clients. He also took bribes. Considering Nadine is a good friend of Ghislaine, it would not be a stretch to assume that Richard could have buried stories on Maxwell and Epstein. I could spend 10 pages on the shady connections these two have.
Johnson, Lucy: Not enough info.
Jones, Ann & Mick: Mick is the guitarist of Foreigner, an immensely popular rock band in the ‘70s and ‘80s. His wife, Ann, is a jewelry designer, and friend of Ghislaine. Ann Jones was photographed at a party with Ghislaine and Donald Trump in 1997 (source: https://www.the-sun.com/news/85818/epstein-madam-ghislaine-maxwell-milked-billionaire-dad-and-threw-lavish-parties-with-beautiful-women/)
Josephson, Barry & Jackie: Barry is a producer and the former President of Production for Columbia Pictures. Jackie is his ex-wife and also a producer.
Karella, Kalliope: Wife of Prince Pierre d’Arenberg. Kalliope is a good friend of Ghislaine Maxwell.
Kastner, Ron: No info found.
Katz, Anton & Robin Plant: Anton is CEO and co-founder of Talos Trading, which specializes in cryptocurrency. Anton and Robin are friends of and have been photographed with Ghislaine (source: https://www.patrickmcmullan.com/search/?person=5b3ef50c9f929066764df255).
Katzeneilenbogen, Mark: Long-time investment banker who used to be based out of South Africa.
Keeling, Sarah: There is a Sarah Keeling in London who is a former British government official with 20 years of experience in national security and intelligence experience, however, the phone number listed has a 410 area code, which leads back to eastern Maryland. Inconclusive.
Kegan, Rory: A nightclub designer and creator. Co-founder of the exclusive, celebrity-filled London nightclub, Chinawhite. Prince Andrew (source: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9818190/prince-andrew-pictures-cast-doubt-epstein-sex-slave/) and Prince Albert of Monaco are regulars. Chelsea Clinton has been there, as well (source: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/bright-night-for-china-white-6299739.html). Other patrons include: Prince Andrew, Kate Middleton, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, and more.
Keidan, Amanda: Owner of Keidan Jewelry.
Keidan, Jon: An entertainment executive-turned-venture capitalist. As an entertainment exec, Keidan worked with John Legend, Dave Matthews Band, and Nappy Roots. Keidan serves on the Council of Foreign Relations, a powerful group that some believe determines foreign policy. Former and current members include former presidents, current and former politicians, business magnates, and celebrities (https://www.cfr.org/membership/roster).
Keller, Georgie: Interior designer.
Kellette Frayse, Caroline: Fashion editor at Vogue and Tatler (both magazines constantly come up in Epstein’s contacts). Former girlfriend of Imran Khan, whose name has come up frequently. Passed away in 2014. Her husband, Jean-Marc Fraysse, is a French investment banker.
Kelmenson, Leo-Arthur & Gayl: Leo was an advertising and marketing guru who has been credited with saving Chrysler. Friend and advisor to Lee Iacocca, former President of Chrysler. He worked as Special Project Officer for the U.S. Department of State under President John F. Kennedy and AG Robert F. Kennedy. He had tons of connections. His former maid accused him of sexual harassment in 2010 (source: https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/maid-harassment-suit-claims-ad-exec-leo-arthur-kelmenson-madman-pervy-mad-men-wannabe-article-1.156915). Kelmenson died less than two months after the story came out.
Kennedy Cuomo, Andrew & Kerry: Andrew is the current governor of New York. It’s no secret that Cuomo is willing to look the other way on sexual deviancy as long as he receives a payoff. Cuomo halted a probe into the handling of Harvey Weinstein’s case in New York after receiving $25,000 from Weinstein’s law firm (source: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/bjbqg4/andrew-cuomo-received-dollar25000-donation-from-harvey-weinsteins-law-firm). Andrew’s brother, CNN Host Chris Cuomo famously told viewers “not to get caught up in the intrigue of who Epstein’s friends are” (source: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/07/11/cnn_cuomo_lets_not_get_caught_up_in_the_intrigue_of_who_was_friends_with_jeffrey_epstein.html). Perhaps, he was covering for his brother. Kerry Kennedy is Cuomo’s ex-wife of fifteen years, the daughter of RFK, and a close friend of Ghislaine Maxwell. Supposedly, Kennedy provided Ghislaine with informal illegal advice (source: https://www.splicetoday.com/politics-and-media/the-nth-word-and-m-theory).
Kennedy Jr. Ted: Son of Ted Kennedy and nephew of JFK and RFK. Ted Jr. dabbled in politics and currently works as a lawyer. His father, Ted, was a notorious sexual abuser (allegedly).
Kennedy, Bobby & Mary: Bobby is the son of RFK and nephew of JFK. Bobby is a known drug abuser and philanderer. Bobby kept a sex journal detailing his conquests while he was married (source: https://nypost.com/2013/09/08/rfk-jr-s-sex-diary-of-adultery/). His ex-wife, Mary, committed “suicide” two years after their divorce. Before committing suicide, Mary told a friend that she “feared for her life” and Bobby told her that she “would be better off dead” (source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3231043/How-serial-cheater-Bobby-Kennedy-Jr-strutted-family-home-exposing-private-parts-demanded-m-nage-trois-wife-Mary-went-public-Cheryl-Hines-telling-Mary-things-easier-killed-herself.html).
Kennedy, Ethel: Widow of RFK Sr. and mother of eleven, including Bobby Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, and Joseph Kennedy II.
Kennedy, Jo: Joseph Kennedy II is the son of RFK Sr. and Ethel. Served in the House of Representatives from 1987-1999. In 1973, Joseph was convicted of negligent driving after paralyzing a young woman. He was fined $100.
Kennedy, Senator Edward: Brother of JFK and RFK, Ted Kennedy served as U.S. Senator of Massachusetts for 47 years. Besides politics, Ted is best known for the Chappaquiddick incident in which a young female speechwriter for RFK drowned to death when he lost control of his vehicle while driving across a bridge. He was charged with leaving the scene of an incident and given a two month suspended sentence. Ted was also notorious for his extramarital affairs. Senator Kennedy once hosted a party at his house attended by Bill Clinton and Lynn Forester de Rothschild. Rothschild wrote a letter to Clinton afterwards in which she mentions that they spoke about Epstein (source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7283825/Jeffrey-Epstein-injured-jail-cell-following-possible-suicide-assault.html). It is unclear what was said or what Rothschild’s connection could possibly be.
Kersner, Sol: South African accountant and hotel and casino magnate who died of cancer in 2020. Kerzner was a close friend of Donald Trump. They even worked together to create The Palm, a man-made island off the coast of Dubai (source: https://www.ft.com/content/46393280-d9f9-11da-b7de-0000779e2340). Kerzner was also close friends with Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York (https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/sarah-ferguson-the-duchess-of-york-sol-kerzner-chairman-and-news-photo/83768272), Naomi Campbell (https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/naomi-campbell-and-sol-kerzner-pose-backstage-during-the-news-photo/82869744), and Bill Clinton (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8144647/As-Sol-Kerzner-dies-aged-84-RICHARD-KAY-looks-riotously-louche-life.html). Kerzner was very good friends with Nelson Mandela and built his casino resorts with Gerard Inzerillo, who you can read about in my G-I ‘Black Book’ thread.
Khayat, Antoine, Jana, & George: Jana is an heiress and businesswoman. Jana is the niece of Galen Weston, a close friend of Prince Charles. George is her brother and CEO of Associated British Foods. Jana’s husband, Antoine, is a former banker and currently runs their vineyard.
Kidd, Jemma: Kidd is a British makeup artist, fashion model, and aristocrat. Married to Arthur Wellesley, Earl of Mornington, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Wellington, making her a Countess. Kidd is an interesting figure with elite connections. From 2005-2012, Ghislaine Maxwell served as Director of Jemma Kidd Make-Up Limited, a U.K. makeup company, which was founded by Kidd. Not only did Ghislaine serve as Director, but she was also a shareholder, along with the Rothschild family (source: https://nationalpost.com/news/world/in-hiding-for-years-epstein-accomplice-ghislaine-maxwell-spotted-in-l-a-burger-shop). If you click around the PDFs on this website (https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05340072/filing-history), you can see everything. The 16 JUN 2006 PDF on page 3 shows you a list of Officers and shareholders of the company. Jemma Kidd has also attended charity events for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) (https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-beckham-nspcc-party-jemma-kidd-106882170.html). Her sister, Jodie, is also a huge supportefundraiser of the NSPCC, as well as the Help a London Child and Monsoon Accessorize Trust charities, both of which help out disadvantaged children (source: https://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/jodie-kidd).
King, Abby: No info found.
Kirwin Taylor, Charlie & Helen: Charles is an investment banker. He was former CEO of Credit Suisse in Switzerland, an investment firm which shows up a few times through Epstein’s contacts. His wife, Helen, is a journalist.
Kirwin Taylor, Peter: British financier. Was a member of the Pilgrims Society (https://isgp-studies.com/pilgrims-society-membership-list), a group that has included the Rothschilds, Rockefellers, and other elites amongst its ranks.
Kissinger, Dr. Henry A: Former U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor under Nixon. Kissinger has long been accused of committing war crimes (ex: carpet bombing Cambodia, installing fascist governments in Chile and Argentina, genocide, extending our stay in Vietnam, etc) yet somehow managed to win a Nobel Peace Prize in 1973. Kissinger once said, “Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy.” Kissinger served with Epstein on the Trilateral Commission. Kissinger has also been a member of the Bilderberg Group, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Aspen Institute, and Bohemian Grove. Long thought to be an advocate for a globalist New World Order, Kissinger is a scumbag of the highest order. His connections with Gates, the Clintons, Bush Sr. and Jr., the Rockefellers, and the Rothschilds are well-documented. If anyone here has ever done any research regarding the NWO, you have undoubtedly seen Kissinger’s name several times.
Klee, Rupert & Charlotte de: Rupert is a Director with Oakridge Group, a property development and investment company. His wife, Charlotte, is the producer of the religious plays at Wintershall.
Klesch, Johnathan: Former Director of Klesch Trading, which specializes in industrial commodities. It has offices in Russia, Malta, Surrey, and in London, down the block from Buckingham Palace.
Koch, David: Co-founder of Koch Industries, a diversified manufacturing conglomerate. Koch Industries has stolen oil from Indian reservations, committed hundreds of polluting, labor, and workplace safety violations. When he ran on the Libertarian ticket as the vice presidential nominee in 1980, Koch aimed to abolish Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare benefits, and minimum wage. Koch and Epstein were friends. Epstein even attended a party at Koch’s Southampton home (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7270735/Jeffrey-Epstein-Trumps-closest-advisers-Wilbur-Ross-Rudy-Giuliani-Steve-Mnunchin.html). Koch has also been photographed with Ghislaine Maxwell (https://www.reddit.com/KochWatch/comments/dcjth3/david_koch_ghislaine_maxwell_getty_images/). Thankfully, Koch died last year.
Kohl, Astrid: A businesswoman involved in pharmaceuticals. Married to Prince Alexander of Liechtenstein. Daughter-in-law of Prince Philipp of Liechtenstein. Niece of former German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl.
Kotic, Boby: CEO of Activision Blizzard, a video game holding company. Used to run several electronic companies. From 2003-2008, he was a director at Yahoo! In 2012, he became a non-executive director of Coca-Cola.
Kotze, Alex Von: British businessman involved in the tech industry.
Kravetz, Anna: Not much info found. Has a degree in finance from Wharton School and used to live on Park Avenue in NYC.
Krooth, Caryn: A successful real estate agent based out of Los Angeles
Kudrow, Alistar: No info found.
Lal, Dalamal: Director of Akron Corp. & Akron (Nig.) Ltd., a food and beverage import company based out of Nigeria.
Lalaunis, Demetra: Daughter of Ilias Lalaounis, a pioneer in Greek jewelry and a world renowned goldsmith.
Lambert, Christopher: Well-known actor.
Lambert, David: Former partner, managing director, and VP at Goldman Sachs.
Lambert, Edward: Lampert is a billionaire hedge fund manager and former CEO of Sears. Lampert graduated from Yale University in 1984 where he was a member of Skull and Bones. Rumored pedophile David Geffen gave Lampert $200 million to invest in 1992, when Lampert was just 29 years old. Lampert made Geffen $1 billion.
Lambos Duff & John: Karen “Duff” Duffy is an actress, model, and TV personality. She has had memorable roles as the love interest in “Blank Check” and as JP Shay in “Dumb and Dumber.” Duffy has battled with sarcoidosis, a deadly central nervous system disease, since the mid-’90s. She credits Harvey Weinstein with saving her life (https://nypost.com/2000/10/03/coping-with-class-this-model-patient-suffers-in-style/). John is a former banker with Morgan Stanley and current President of GCA-US, an investment banking company.
Lang, Caroline: An art expert and Chairman at Sotheby’s Switzerland.
Lange, Dieter: Former Partner at WilliamHare, an international law firm with offices in London, Berlin, the U.S., Beijing, and Brussels. Passed away in 2010.
Larsen Janet: The only one I can find is a Business Psychologist based out of London.
Laurie, Jonathan: Founder and CEO of Cheyne Capital Management, an alternate investment fund firm.
Lavlada, Laura D.B. de: Laura Diez Barroso is a Mexican businesswoman. She sold her stock in Televisa for $726 million in 1993. Since then, she has been the head of several other companies.
Lawford Christopher & Jean: Christopher was an actor and relative of the Kennedys. His uncles were JFK, RFK, and Ted Kennedy. Many of his relatives appear in Epstein’s ‘Black Book’. His first wife, Jeannie, was an ad-sales associate for New York Magazine.
Lawton Paul: Two British businessmen with the same name come up. Both have extensive resumes. Could be either one.
Lazar, Christopher & Marie: Christophe seems to be a realtor in Paris, but I am not completely sure.
Le Bon, Simon & Jasmine: Simon is the lead singer of Duran Duran. His wife, Yasmin, is/was a fashion model. Yasmin is represented by Models1 in London. Models1 also represents Epstein and Ghislaine’s friend, Naomi Campbell. Le Bon has been accused of sexual assault in the past (https://www.freep.com/story/news/2018/07/12/simon-le-bons-accuser-sex-assault-claim-speaks-out-awful/777106002/).
Le Fur, Jean-Yves: French businessman and magazine creator. He was once Princess Stephanie of Monaco’s ex-fiance. More notably, Le Fur was the one who discovered supermodel Karen Mulder (his girlfriend at the time) on the floor after she attempted suciide. Mulder blew the lid off the rampant rape and sexual abuse that she and her modeling colleagues had suffered at the hands of businessmen, royalty, celebrities, and government officials. She was even the protege of Epstein collaborator (allegedly), Jean Luc Brunel (https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/article238351108.html).
Le Marg Willie: No info found.
Lea, Piers: CEO of Learning Technologies Group, a workplace digital learning company.
Leeds, Jeffrey: Co-founder and Managing Partner of Leeds Equity. One of Leeds Equity’s partner companies is Endeavor Schools, which runs private preschools, primary schools, and secondary schools in Florida and 11 other states (https://www.leedsequity.com/news/articles/leeds-equity-partners-completes-investment-in-endeavor-schools). They are also partners with Fusion Educational Group (now Fusion Academy), which runs a chain of private secondary schools (https://www.leedsequity.com/news/articles/leeds-equity-partners-completes-investment-in-fusion-education-group). Former teacher Kris White, now the head of Fusion Academy in Palo Alto, allegedly told a student that he was in love with her and wrote her a note saying he was “obsessed” with her. (https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/07/12/teachers-named-in-presentation-high-sex-investigation-kept-working-as-bay-area-educators-for-years/). This story was just published on July 12, 2020. Hypothetically, if one wanted to procure underage children, it would certainly help if the head of the school was on board and possibly a pedophile himself. According to this former teacher at Fusion Academy, “many students struggle with learning differences, behavioral issues, and/or addictions” (https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-Fusion-Academy-RVW21260629.htm). In other words, the downtrodden and vulnerable. Fusion Academy refers to itself as a non-traditional school that focuses on individual students. Seems like a great opportunity. Leeds was also good friends with Epstein (https://nymag.com/nymetro/news/people/n_7912/) and has close ties to Colin Powell and Rudy Giuliani (https://nypost.com/2016/09/14/colin-powell-wont-vote-for-her-because-of-bill-clinton/).
Lefcourt, Jerry: Famous lawyer who defended Epstein in 2007. That same year, Epstein donated $250,000 to the Washington-based Foundation for Criminal Justice, where Lefcourt was a board member.

2020.07.09 23:48 WeathersRabbits Skull Of Linda Sue Sherman In The Mexican Restaurant Window.

Updates 7/10/2020\ Updating some information about the restaurant.*
Updates 7/10/2020\ I noticed Linda did not have a profile on Namus. So, I contacted the regional specialist to see if that was something that could be done. They said after they research it some more they might look into doing that!*
Updates 7/10/2020\ Fixing text errors and adding some character information about Linda on her profile.*

This one is a strange case because it seems very obvious. Except for one issue, the skull of the victim is identified and now laid to rest but her body is missing.
This case has a previous post here but it is now archived.
I do not like this case. It is old enough that a proper paper trail is nearly non-existent. I personally think this is the intention of the killer and the era of the time was on their side. Most of my write up is based on other people's blogs. The links and sources are below. I will edit my post and date with any updates I find or more information. Sometimes I add your theories so the next time I post it will be with updated ideas.
The key to this case is going to be a witness or finding the rest of the body. So, if you have any information or a tip, please call the Vinita Park Police Department in Vinita Park, Missouri, (314) 428-7373 or call Unsolved Mysteries at 1-800-876-5353 (If you call the unsolved it just growls at you. It's now a disconnected number.)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Linda Sue Sherman officially vanished on April 22nd, 1985 around 6 pm. According to her husband Donald Edward Sherman, Linda came home after her 2 am work shift. According to Don, they had an argument until around 4 am in the morning which ended with her sleeping on the couch and Don sleeping in their bedroom. Linda did not wake to take their daughter Patty to school. Patty saw her mother laying on the couch with her face to the back. Patty remarks that it was very unusual that her father was taking her to school and that her mother did not wake to even say goodbye.
Don took Patty to school and went to work. He arrives home a little before 6 pm where he states that his wife was running late for work. They didn't speak much and according to him, she was angry and antsy. Linda left for work around 6 pm with no witnesses seeing this event take place. Linda did not report to work that evening and was never seen again.
Don did not report her missing until at least one more full day. The family of Linda had to urge him to do so and Don stated that this was a regular occurrence of her to leave and pointed out that her overnight bag was gone. (Investigators said they did find evidence of missing items from the home) Don stated that she had been cheating hence why they had the argument the other day. Linda's sister Fran of Hazlewood, Missouri talked on the phone every single night with Linda but not get their usual phone call on the 22nd.
Linda did have a history of leaving and she was having a confirmed by law enforcement affair with a man from her work. However, the man had an alibi and was cleared. Linda's family also pointed out that Linda never left Patty alone with Don Sherman because he had threatened to murder the entire family on a previous occasion. Linda had been making moves to secure her independence such as routing her mail to her sisters and sending her paychecks there. Linda's family was aware that she was attempting to leave for good and was having an affair.
Linda's family began a search and made flyers along with offering a 1,000 dollar reward for any information. The next clue was found entirely on a hunch by Fran and her husband Dennis. They went to the St. Louis Lambert Airport and discovered Linda's '97 yellow Volkswagon (Correction it was 1971 car. Thanks peachdoxie) on the first turn into the short-term parking garage. No signs of a struggle and the doors were locked. They could see her school supplies and hat in the car. The trunk was unlocked but there was nothing else there. The airport kept track of cars that were parked longer than 24 hours and this car was marked on April 24th. There was no Linda Sherman that left on any airplanes either. At the time one could just buy a ticket with cash. Linda's family points out it would have been possible to walk back to the Sherman home from the airport and on google maps, it says it would be about a 1 hour and 30-minute walk.
Around this time the case switches lead investigators and Michael Webb began to work the case. It became his obsession and his family's obsession because he pursued this case until he died nearly twenty years later. It is well known that Webb looked into every tiny detail or lead that he could. It is of public opinion that the case was never solved because law enforcement did not care. I think this is untrue.
Everyone tried to move on with their lives at this point because nothing was moving this case forward. Patty moved in with her Maternal Grandmother and saw her father on the weekends. Don became depressed and starting heavy drinking. He attempted to divorce Linda on the grounds that she was cheating and abandoned him. It was overturned, the judge saying they would wait until Linda could consent.
Five years later on 12:30 p.m. on June 28, 1990, Linda's skull was recovered. Casa Gallardo https://imgur.com/a/oUl2vCV Mexican Restaurant ( which is now permanently closed and removed. (Savydreams says it was a chain restaurant and they worked in another location. It had no skull motifs or decorations there) It is only about 7 minutes from the airport. Two flight attendants happen to look out the window that was on the east side and see a skull placed underneath a yucca plant that was positioned so it was staring back. (Clarification the skull was outside in a small manicured strip but able to be seen from the window inside the restaurant)
The police did not declare the scene a crime as nothing else had been disturbed. The event was classified as 'found human remains' and quickly dismissed as a cruel teenage prank. In the area, a local cemetery was being exhumed and moved. There had already been an incident with teens breaking into the area and taking photos of skeletons. The skull was taken to the morgue and sat on a shelf.
Don was actually at the restaurant that day in the evening. This was his favorite spot to go and drink and he heard reports of the skull being found.
14 months later, on September 6, 1991, a letter arrived at the police. It was an unsealed envelope with a flyer from the restaurant and the day the skull was recovered. One side of it in purple ink sometimes described as rubber-stamped was the sentence. "THE BRIDGETON POLICE HAVE L. SHERMAN'S SKULL."
The skull was taken off the shelf and matched to Linda Sherman's dental records. There were no further clues to gain from the skull or the letter. Both were void of any evidence.
Don was informed at his home and Patty was there as well. Patty said all he told her was "They found your mom" and went to his room. Patty was 16 years old at the time and didn't learn the details until much later through a cousin.
Webb desperate with any leads begged the public for information with a news article. Anytime he went to a police convention he would pull aside detectives that worked the world's most difficult and famous cases. They were not able to provide any more tips or ideas.
When technology had finally advanced enough Webb tried to test the soil samples that were on the skull. They also tested the plant matter growing on the skull. They exhumed Linda's skull and sent her to the University of Columbia in Missouri. They concluded the skull had been buried in a large wooded area in Missouri and that the plant was common purple morning glory. Webb sent cadaver dogs to Perryville, MO where he thought matched the description and a rumor but nothing turned up there.
Unsolved Mysteries aired an episode about the case on July 2, 2001. You can see in-person interviews with her family, Patty, and even Don.
With nothing else to propel the case forward, everyone moved on with their lives. Webb passed away with the case unsolved. Many people from Linda's family passed away as well. Patty Sherman relocated and had her own child. Don relocated, remarried, and passed away.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Profiles
Linda Sherman is also known as Linda Sue Lutz Sherman. There are no other alias or nicknames that I could discover except for that people may have just called her Linda Sue. Birthday is 19th Oct 1958, St. Louis City, Missouri, and her death is listed as 1985 from her gravestone and April 22nd, 1985 on the find a grave memorial site. Linda's skull is currently buried at Steedman Cemetery in Steedman, Callaway County, Missouri. Linda was working at the U.S. Government Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri. (Renamed National Personnel Records Center) and lived in Vinita Park, Missouri at the time of her disappearance. Linda had a large and loving family who tried to support her and advocated for her. Linda was the youngest of the group with her personality being described as sheltered, quiet, and reserved. (Sister Fran Miller, Brother Dennis Through interviews of family, friends, and co-workers they determined Linda did not have any enemies. The opposite of what Don describes her as. Linda was raised in Florissant on other accounts grew up Dadebridge Court in Ferguson and attending McCluer High School which is still in the St. Louis area. There at McCluer High School, she met future husband Donald Sherman.
They wed on February 10, 1975, at Christ Memorial Baptist Church. Linda was 17 at the time. The couple rented a home next to Linda's parents Walter and Elenora Lutz (both now deceased and buried in the same cemetery as their daughter) Linda gave birth to Patricia Marie Shermanat at 17 years old in August of 1975. Linda still graduated from high school and pursued education. It is noted that Linda's family said their marriage was always strained. During the early years, the often worked opposite work shifts to make ends meet and it was hard on them. Linda worked many jobs; Sears, Site Oil Company, and as a cocktail waitress at the Flaming Pit restaurant. Don was particularly upset by Patty working at the Flaming Pit and said she flirted with many and changed there.
Linda filed for divorce in 1977 in October important to note she wanted the home and custody of Patty. They reconciled and moved to Vanita park in a five-room bungalow it may have been at this address 8300 block of Monroe Ave.
1980 Linda had a miscarriage or a stillbirth and was diagnosed with epilepsy and seizures. The couple chose to not have any more children, something Don reportedly was upset with. This event seemed to be a catalyst for discontentment with the marriage.
Linda suspected Don had tampered with her car and Don told the court he did because it was in his name. The reasons were because he was suspicious of her movements and whereabouts. It was reported he was even jealous of her spending time with her own family. Eventually, she got a protection order and moved to a small apartment in St. Ann, Missouri with Patty after Don threatened suicide and murder of Patty and Linda. The order was granted but after only a month Patty (edit because I switched Patty and Linda around! Thank you teetole) Linda discontinued it on the grounds they were back together. I found a reference in a blog that Linda had actually handwritten a small note with the explanation on why to the judge to explain why she didn't need the protection anymore. That seems very meticulous/thorough of her. Also, she had been described as classy by someone from that court.
In the early months of 1985, Patty Linda (edit I switched it again. Thanks fancyfreecb decided to finally start putting things together to leave. This time however she saved money, re-rerouted her mail, and then on April 11, 1985, she filed for divorce with Frank Vatterott as her lawyer.
-------------------------------------------------

Donald Edward Sherman born April 6, 1957, in Missouri and died 10:54 a.m. on Thursday, May 07, 2015, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon Illinois Don's memorial page says he lived in Nashville along with his wife Sue Gale and her children; John "Jake" (Rebecca) Gale and Tiffany Gale. The memorial mentions a daughter but lists her name as Hanna Sherman of St. Charles, Mo, and not Patty. I assume this was Patty and maybe whoever wrote the obituary did not realize all the details about this daughter. On his memorial page there a virtual candle lit by his "One and only daughter". He was also survived by 4 grandchildren; Jax, Jasmine, Noah, and Emmalyn Gale. A brother; Ken Sherman of Missouri and numerous friends. His obituary also describes him as a "manufacturing machinist and loved to build things. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with loved ones." Interesting as he has no final burial spot as he was cremated.
Don worked as a gas station attendant, a manufacturing machinist, it's reported as well as various factory jobs.
Don is described most often as controlling, verbally abusive, physically abusive, and very jealous. Linda's brother said Don would have a fit even she even went out to lunch with her own brother. There was a confirmed incident in which Don admits to disabling his wife's car. Don has an interview on the unsolved mysteries episode. I would appreciate anyone with good body language skills to watch it and leave their thoughts. Body language is not my strong suit.
Don had wild theories about what happened to his wife and often convoluted the casework with them. He also was offended that that police made him the main suspect. One week after his wife's disappearance he told police that he had seen her in a truck/van with another man and had ducked out of sight when he chased afteyelled. At one point he said she had been killed for her involvement in a cocaine ring at her workplace. Then he said the skull was placed at his favorite restaurant to frame him or intimidate him. sometimes he'd deflect the topic entirely by saying things like "I don't remember exactly what was going through my head," he says now. "It's way too long ago to remember that."
Don lawyered up right away with Frank Anzalone and refused polygraph testing and even his choice in lawyers was Bizzare because it was the same lawyer that represented his mother. February 25, 1974, his mother Audrey shot her husband and tried to say someone broke into the house. They found the gun in the air duct. His mother went to prison just after they were married and served 6 months in jail. Don says the murder happened because they were both alcoholics. Don also said his choice in lawyer was simply because he already knew him.
-------------------------------------------------
Lieutenant Michael Webb started his way as a patrol officer in 1974 and ended up being a Police Cheif of Vanita park police in 2001. Webb also was an investigator for the Major Case Squad. Webb refused to allow the case to rest and investigated it for over twenty years. February 4, 2009, due to pancreatic cancer he passed away in his own home of St. Peters. Webb had a son Sean Webb who spoke of the fact his father didn't want this case to be forgotten so that he could get justice for Linda. "Frankly, this has become a sort of an obsession for us and for the family," Mr. Webb told reporters in 1993. "In addition to his son, survivors include his wife, Donna J. Webb of St. Peters; two other sons, Nicholas Webb of San Diego and Daniel Webb of St. Peters; a stepdaughter, Dawn Waters of Stillwater, Okla.; a stepson, Tim Nolting of St. Charles County; his mother, Maryann Webb of St. Peters; a brother, Gene Webb of Creve Coeur; two grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren." - Obituary Webb was buried at St. Charles Memorial Gardens and any memorial contributions can be made to the BackStoppers.
Michael Webb was a true-crime memorabilia collector and also a supporter of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Patrica Marie Sherman was born in August of 1976. Patty is now Patty Harvell of Attica, Indiana. Patty still has recurrent nightmares of the last day she had seen her mother. Though she is aware her father is the main suspect of this case she still hopes for closure and wants to bring all of her Mother's body home to rest. “In my heart, I think that he might’ve done it. You know, I can’t think of anybody else who would’ve.” -Interview from Unsolved Mysteries.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Notes/Thoughts/Theories/Loose Ideas
Watch the interviews from Unsolved Mysteries; Patty Sherman's body language is interesting. When speaking about the last time she had seen her mother she shakes her head adamantly no. It was obviously a traumatic moment because in other news articles she says she has recurrent nightmares about this moment even into adulthood. When speaking in the rest of the interview she does not shake her head no but is not steady and adamant.
I wonder if she doesn't know just a little more than she is letting on? Did Don threaten her to never speak of something? After all, he did previously threaten to murder Linda AND Patty. It's an interesting theory to think about especially since a lot of people seem to think Don had an accomplice at least with hiding his wife's body.
Most people seem to think Linda was dead on the couch that morning or dying.
Did Patty actually go to the school that day? What time did she come home? Did she not encounter her mother at home after school?
Don's jealousy went from insanely persistent and intense to none after her disappearance. I wonder if that's because he knows where she is.
Interesting that her skull appears at a restaurant especially since Don particularly got jealous of her going out to lunch with her brother. I wonder if this was one last dinnelunch date that she could not refuse.
The fact her car was locked but the trunk unlocked was also interesting.
If I understand the timeline of events correctly... Don would have had a day or so to hide Linda's body but I think it would have been done a little at a time to avoid long periods of absentees.
Linda's death date listed on her memorial website is April 22nd. Obviously Patty or Linda's other family would have had to choose this date. I find that interesting that they believe she had died on that day and not a few days after.
Don uses his wife's full name during the interviews. Just a strange quirk. I'm not sure what to make of it. I read someone thought this might indicate his dissociative nature to her at this point.
Don may not have kept contact with Patty as his obit either omits her or mistakes her information. Indicative someone wrote the obit that didn't have much information about Patty. They lived in different states.
Many people seem to agree that Don killed his wife and had to have evidence of her death in order to remarry/divorce from her legally.
People rumor that the skull was placed at that particular restaurant simply because Don knew it well enough to take the risk of placing it there. It's interesting he even had a flimsy reason on why at the ready.
My impression of Don is that he is the kind of man that mixes a whole lot of truth with a little bit of a lie.

2020.05.30 17:23 tonnie_taller ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 12: And The Winner Is…

Read more on WordPress https://ift.tt/2zJR8dP
Warning: This story containsspoilers for “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 12, so sashay away if you haven’t watched the finale yet.

An unprecedented season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” — which had to recon with the disqualification of one queen — has come to an innovative end: During Friday’s virtual finale, Mama Ru crowned a winner, baby, pandemic be damned.
The socially distanced season 12 finale included appearances from celebrities (Kim Petras! Adam Lambert! Dolly freaking Parton!) and past queens alike, including Nina West video-ing in to crown the show’s newest Miss Congeniality: Heidi N Closet, to the utter delight of everyone and surprise of absolutely no one.
The final three, meanwhile, competed in a digital lip-sync battle from the safety of their homes, with Crystal Methyd, Gigi Goode and Jaida Essence Hall turning out five numbers. But only one could win the crown and a cash prize of $100,000.
And America’s Next Drag Superstar is…

The 32-year-old pageant queen proved to be the _essence_ of beauty and so much more, with a total of three maxi challenge wins including the all-important superfan makeover. Having previously auditioned for season 7 alongside fellow Milwaukee queen Trixie Mattel, Jaida opened up to ET’s Brice Sander about what the win means to her.
“It does not matter where you come from, what your background is, how long you’ve been working at things and how many things you failed at, you can achieve anything,” she said. “Literally, I did not finish high school — I had to go back and get my GED — and so many things in my life told me, ‘You will not be successful.’”
“But success is so many different things to many people,” Jaida explained. “And I still found a way to find success in my life just by pursuing my happiness and my dreams.”

RUNNERS-UP

As the youngest in the competition, the 21-year-old broke the lewk queen mold with four maxi challenge wins ranging from the Snatch Game to Rusical to this season’s ball. For Gigi, it’s all part of her campaign to Make Drag Fun Again.
“It is time to start taking things less seriously, to just have fun again,” she told ET. “Make drag less about the drama, less about the trolls. There is no reason for any of that. We need to be lifting each other up and be experiencing the entertainment that we’re trying to deliver. It’s, like, just stop taking things so seriously, OK? I’m a man in women’s clothing. Just chill.”
Image via VH1Crystal Methyd
The 28-year-old queen from Missouri won over RuPaul with her El DeBarge-esque mullet, along with the hearts of viewers everywhere. (As for maxi challenge wins, she clinched one with the one-queen show.)
“Embrace your weirdness and embrace what makes you different, because that is what makes you special and powerful,” Crystal told ET of her message to fans. “All of us that are on the show are fans and viewers of the show, and a lot of people kind of become very similar. And drag has become something that is– I don’t know. Everyone’s pretty similar sometimes. [But I want to] encourage people to step outside of what they think drag even is and to really try and push the art form forward.”

DISQUALIFIED:

Image via VH1Sherry Pie
Following multiple allegations of catfishing — in which Sherry Pie (aka Joey Gugliemelli) was accused of posing as a casting director and coaxing actors into submitting videos of a sexual or degrading nature — the 27-year-old was DQed from the Race.
“In light of recent developments and Sherry Pie’s statement, Sherry Pie has been disqualified from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’,” a spokesperson for VH1 and World of Wonder said in a statement to ET. “Out of respect for the hard work of the other queens, VH1 will air the season as planned. Sherry will not appear in the grand finale scheduled to be filmed later this spring.”

2020.04.14 12:34 doozywoozydream realizing that i’m a lesbian / venting / seeking validation(?)

after i typed this all out, i realized that i could’ve just typed the second to last paragraph instead of spending six hours straight typing everything else. but i think i really needed to write it all out, and i spent so long writing it (even sacrificing sleep) so i guess i’ll post it. (idk if this is even the proper sub to put this in ahh.) this also might be kinda boring but i found some humor in it so idk
okay so i probably dont even count as a LBL as i am only 16, but i have only known that i like girls for a little over two years and only recently realized that i am (most likely) a lesbian, and for whatever reason feel most comfortable posting to this sub. if there’s a sub that you feel better fits this ramble, let me know and i might repost it there. i just really need to let this stuff off of my chest. also, although i dont feel alone in not realizing i liked girls until later, and definitely not alone in being a lesbian, there are things that i feel at least somewhat alone on and i want to see if anyone relates or maybe could give me some validation in me being a lesbian. (idk if i worded that correctly, i read it back and it sounds okay but im cringing at myself so hard. also, reddit crashed on me right after finishing this paragraph so i’m trying my best to type it from memory skskdkj)
sooo, i guess i’ll start from when i first realized that i like girls. i don’t remember what made me realize i like girls, (i feel like it had something to do with my obsession with lana del rey) i just remember one day being like “i think im bi ?” at that point i was still oblivious to pretty much all of the previous signs that i like girls, so for a little while i just said i was 99% sure i was bi. i also kinda worried that i was just “pretending” i was bi for attention and that i would later realized that i was straight (which is so funny thinking about now because i am soooo gay.) although i didnt start questioning until i was in 8th grade, there were some moments in 6th and 7th grade that i thought to myself “i could be bi.” or me kinda testing to see if i was bi. i just shrugged it off tho, because i had “no reason” to believe i wasn’t straight. one of those instances occurred when i was spending the night at a friend’s house, and we were sitting on her bed watching tv. her bed was broken, so it dipped in in the middle, which had us sitting right next to each other. it was in that moment that i thought to myself “i could be bi” and i feel like i was kinda testing in my mind if i liked that feeling of being so close to her, if that makes any sense, but i immediately brushed it off. not because i didnt want to like girls or was scared or anything, but simply because i had “no reason” to believe i was anything other than straight. another instance happened around a year later with the same friend (looking back im pretty sure i liked her a little bit at the very least.) the details are a blur, and i have no clue how well im remembering this, but somehow her, another friend and i ended up falling asleep all tangled or something, as i remember us waking up all close and tangled together. im pretty sure it was me who did this first, cause again i think i was testing how close i enjoyed being with her / girls in general, (typing this out im realizing i might’ve actually been lowkey questioning my sexuality since 6th grade, wow) but i remember reaching out my arm around her while we were all still half asleep to see if she’d reciprocate, and i remember her reaching back out and getting excited and wondering if that meant anything. the third instance i can remember i was sitting on the bleachers next to another friend (the other girl that was tangled up with us) and resting my head on her shoulder and thinking, again, “i could be bi.” i again feel like i was testing to see if i liked the presence of girls like that or something.
like i said earlier, i was oblivious to maaany signs that i liked girls, until i started to remember signs and things that had happened, one of the first being my first big girl crush (at least that i remember lol.) it was the summer before 6th grade, and my best friend and i spent the night at one of our friends houses. i remember sitting in the in the basement of her house, and feeling reeeeally attracted to her (the friend whose house it was not my best friend lmao, just wanna clarify cause i may let her read this one day.) i remember thinking things like “it’s probably just because she looks like a guy” “and because she has a good taste in music.” “ugh, she would never like me back.” “wait, do i WANT her to like me back ?” i also had absolutely NO CLUE that there was anything other than straight or gay, and since i “liked guys” and was “boy crazy,” and she was very masculine presenting, i thought that i was straight and it was just a fluke. i also thought being gay was SUPER rare when i was in elementary, and since i had “no reason” to believe i wasn’t straight, i assumed i was in fact straight.
i guess that leads me into one of the major things that made me question me actually being a lesbian, and what kept me from realizing i liked girls for so long. ive seen and heard many people say that they didn’t realize they liked girls for years, but many of the stories i heard were from girls saying stuff along the lines of “i was always uncomfortable with the idea of relationships, thought i just was a late bloomer when it came to guys, pretend / force myself to be into guys, etc. etc” (obviously there’s nothing wrong with that, just want to clarify incase i accidentally come off as rude / disrespectful.) i actually LOVED the idea of romance and being in love. in fact, when a lot of girls i knew were grossed out by (straight) kissing scenes, i was always the one being like, “i dOnt unDersTand wHy pEoplE gEt sO grOsSed oUt by kiSsing, i LovE it !!!” and i loved reading and writing books with romance in it. since i didnt think boys were gross i assumed i was straight because being gay was “so rare,” i think i confused wanting a guy friend and wanting a boyfriend. i remember always wanting a guy friend, but mostly if not only saw girls both in real life and in tv having friends who are girls and boyfriends. i think i might’ve subconsciously brainwashed myself into thinking that girls and guys couldn’t be just friends, and so things i felt about guys meant i liked them. it never felt like i was forcing myself to like guys, but something that i read on that comp. het. doc stood out to me, was “picking guys at random to be attracted to.” i DEFINITELY didn’t realize at the time, but looking back it really seems as if i was picking random guys to be attracted to based on things i found attractive like a good personality, or more feminine characteristics (DEFINITELY never realized that second one, no wonder my taste in guys was different than most of my friends. and obviously there are straight/bi girls who prefer feminine guys, but for me i think that was definitely a sign. the only super masculine guy i remember liking in real life was only for his music taste lmfao.) i remember even scream-complaining outside to one of my friends after realizing i didn’t have a crush on anyone, “IVE NEVER BEEN LONGER THAN FIVE MINUTES WITHOUT HAVING A CRUSH!” which seems to me looking back that i wasn’t as interested in having a boyfriend as i was being attracted to someone, so whenever i got over a guy or whatever i would pick an at least somewhat cute guy to have a crush on. i remember having a crush on this one boy in 4th grade for ONE DAY, and thinking something like, “he’s kinda cute, i have a crush on him now” and realizing the next day that i wasn’t really into him. i’ve realized lately that since i loved the idea of romance so much and thought being straight was the only “option” so to speak, i became “obsessed” with boys, therefore becoming oblivious to any signs that i liked girls and just assuming that any sign was just something every straight girl did / felt, which really explains the whole elementary school “boy craziness.”
fast forward to middle school where i ended up dating two guys, one in 6th grade and one in 7th. with the first guy, i remember one of his friends coming up to me and telling me that his friend liked me, and asking if i liked him back. i said yes even though i didn’t even know him at all or even really what he looked like (the first week we were “dating” im pretty sure i mixed him up with another guy, or at least after i was told he liked me i did,) and the only reason i said yes was because i thought no one would ever like me again and i would never have another chance (lmao that is so depressing, thank god that’s the only time i’ve ever thought like that.) the next day his friend came up to me in the lunch line and asked me how much i liked him on a scale of one to ten, and i said ten to make sure he’d ask me out. (again, i had like basically no feelings for this guy other than excitement because this random boy liked me.) we ended up dating for six months (which i’d say is pretty impressive for a sixth grader lol, we even went on multiple dates,) and we ended our relationship over text. he told me something like “i think we should break up, but we can still be friends.” i remember feeling absolutely nothing about the breakup, which i guess was in part to me having seen it coming. i remember in the weeks leading up to the breakup, i turned to my friend in english class (the one i liked in 6th and 7th grade) and freaking out saying we haven’t been talking much and asking her what i should do. but i mean, we did get to know each other quite a bit and saw and talked to each other pretty much everyday, so you’d think i would at least be like “aww, that sucks. oh well.” but i remember feeling nOthing.
in 7th grade, i remember sitting at a table with one of my friends watching this movie for class (the one who i leaned my head on on the bleachers) and seeing this one guy sitting across from me and thinking he was cute. fast forward about sixth months later when we start talking / dating. it definitely felt less weird / awkward / cringy, but looking back i think my excitement was more about me getting a cute boyfriend, and my feelings for him were more like friendship feelings. we never officially broke up, it was just kinda thought to be over when he moved to another state. i remember throwing my phone across the room and pouting, but i don’t remember feeling absolutely devastated. it felt way more like losing a friend. (not a close or super close one cause that’d be more devastating lol.) i remember at the beginning of 8th grade whining to my friend that i missed him, but it felt way more like missing a friend. looking back at both of those middle school relationships, i feel like i wasn’t as comfortable with it all as i thought i was. and yeah, of course holding hands and having an arm stiffly around you is probably gonna be awkward in middle school, but i didn’t get the feelings that i thought i would get, stuff’s a little blurry and hard to explain now but it just — wasn’t completely what i was expecting, thinking about it now.
so back to 8th grade, when i began to really start to question my sexuality. even when i still said i wasn’t for sure if i was bi, i remember REALLY and ONLY wanting a girlfriend, and thinking “i may be bi, but my first kiss HAS to be with a girl and i my first time HAS to be with a girl.” i assumed that as soon as i had my first girlfriend, i would instantly have the desire to date guys again, along with girls. (fast forward to now where i’ve have had my first girlfriend and still have no desire to date guys, but i’ll get to that in a couple of paragraphs.)
i first began to wonder if maybe i could possibly be a lesbian freshman year. i remember there were a few times were my best friend and i were talking and somehow ended up with conversations where she would be like “well what if your husband ___,” and me wanting to correct her and say, “or wife !” but feeling as though it didnt have anything to do with the topic at hand and knowing that she probably just said that out of habit not realizing and having no ill-intent. the second time she did this, we were talking about the fact that i said i would never want to be responsible for a dog (i have no clue what i was thinking lmao, i love cats but i also love dogs) and she says, “what if your husband wants a dog?” if i wasn’t so focused on wanting to correct her, i would’ve just been like “i would help take care of the dog” but instead i made up some dumb argument about cats and dogs not getting along, to which she told me about someone who she knew who had a cat and dog that got along, so i just ended that conversation with “that’s a big oof,” and after that, i REALLY wanted to say, “but you know what’s the bigger oof ? me having a husband.” but i stopped myself because i was like “wait, but i’m bi, which means i could have a husband.” i started to wonder for a bit after that if i was a lesbian, but then i REALLY got into queen (which, fun fact, i originally discovered in elementary because of my first major girl crush, and i remember downloading bohemian rhapsody because of her and thinking of her while listening to it in the car lmfao.) after starting a pinterest board dedicated to all four members, saving photos of them to my camera roll and setting some as my wallpapers, watching many interviews and just generally fangirling over them (and of course i was, and still am, listening to their music all the fucking time as well,) i was like “oMg iM sO Bi ahAhhAa.” i remember one of my best friends asking me on a scale of one to ten how gay i was, and i said 6/10, with those four bois making up the enTire other 40%.
so now finally, fast forward to this school year. i began to really question if i was a lesbian around maybe october ? i know when i officially came out to my mom i said i didn’t know, and that was in november. what really pushed me to question if i was a lesbian was when my best friend did the “what if you’re husband___” thing again, and the thought of having a husband made me really uncomfortable, so finally i was like, “are you reallly bi ?” later that night i was watching one of those dumb animated storytimes on youtube, and the thought of having a boyfriend made me physically gag. at first i thought maybe i was being dramatic and doing that for attention, but then i was like “im literally alone in my room right now.” in december, another one of my close friends held her birthday party, where i met this one girl. sparing a lot of details because im tired af and pulling and all-nighter to finish this like a dumbass, but we started dating after few weeks of talking, and although we only dated for a total of 19 days, i was HEARTBROKEN. although she had been more distant and i had a feeling it was coming, i spent most of that morning crying, feeling dead inside, and laugh-crying to aNoThEr one of my close friends when i got to first period. i spent the rest of the day numb and heartbroken, thinking “iLL nEveR meEt anOthEr giRL likE hEr !” although i had just had my first heartbreak, i luckily got over it pretty quickly. but looking back and comparing that relationship to my other two, that one just felt way more —- natural, or just, way more of what i expected it to be like. although i still haven’t had my first kiss or anything yet, i have no desire to date boys again in the slightest. part of my brain is still like “mAybE onCe yOu dO Do aLL oF tHat wiTh a GiRL yOu wiLL,” but i genuinely dont think that’s going to happen...
so, i’m currently way more confident in saying that im a lesbian than i ever was saying i was bi, but i still have doubts, a lot of it due in part to my guy celebrity “crushes.” i still love looking at photos of them on pinterest and on instagram, because they ARE attractive and “aesthetically pleasing” to look at, and i love fangirling over them and shit, but i’ve realized that you can find people attractive and not be attracted TO them. also, if straight girls can have “girl crushes” and “girl crush wednesdays,” i should be allowed to have my “man crushes” (which i think i remember being a point im the comphet doc.) i kinda worry that maybe someone will look through my pinterest or camera roll one day and think im faking being a lesbian or something, but realistically that’s probably not gonna happen. Im just gonna enjoy my queen and adam lambert pinterest boards while also enjoying my lana del rey and siouxsie sioux pinterest boards (will someone i know be able to identify who i am after saying all of this ? fuck it idc.) and be gay af and just listen to my heart and go with my gut on all of this. one thing that kind of was a relief was coming to the conclusion that i know i’ve never been bi-SEXUAL, obviously won’t go into detail because it’s probably weird talking about that stuff to the internet at my age, but i know ive ALWAYS been sexually attracted to women, and NEVER sexually attracted to men, and i find that comforting, like at least i’ve figured something out 1000%. definitely don’t need validation on that aspect of things lol.
if you for whatever reason actually read all of that...i don’t even know what to say. i thought it was gonna be shorter and get more points across and have more of an actual point to it, but im realizing now that i could’ve just made this whole thing the previous paragraph instead of spending six hours straight writing this. i didnt even mention my full coming out or anything, it’s just like half of a coming out story ??? i really dont know wtf this is. BUT as i was writing this out, things that made me doubt being a lesbian on the surface before really made me realize that i am, and always have been, a lesbian. omigod. i’m also just so thankful that i’ve never had to worry about actually coming out and i’ve always felt safe around the people i’m closest to about this and have never had to worry about being accepted. although i did sort of worry that some of the people who are closest to me wouldn’t believe that im a lesbian because they’ve seen me “like” and be with guys, i know now that i don’t really have to worry about that. there are SO MANY things i could’ve included, maybe one day i’ll make a follow up about signs i was gay or something lol. idk if its dumb to be worrying and thinking about all of this at my age, especially since im in an environment where i can freely explore this kind of stuff, but i just needed to let this out. ~
TL;DR: read the second to last paragraph. still kinda long, but i think thats the main point.
i dont know why im so nervous posting this ahhhh

2020.03.04 16:58 Ghost-Quartet 28 Albums You May Have Missed From The 2010s

The far less exciting followup to Monday’s 28+ Albums You May Have Missed In 2019, here's a compilation of the decade writeups so I can have full closure on the series. I curated these writeups in conjunction to the 2019 ones as a way to spice it up, there’s no theme to them really I just selected albums on a day to day basis that I felt were a nice contrast to the 2019 album I was writing about, but now that they aren’t paired that’s a moot point so here they’ve been presented chronologically. These albums (and in many cases these artists) were super underrated/ignored by pop fans and I’m here to tell you why.
Yes, I didn't have anything from 2010.

2011:

Made4TV by Little Jackie (Motown + Rap)

  • For Fans Of: Amy Winehouse, Motown, Old-school alternative pop girls (Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, etc.)
Description: In the pantheon of weird, alternative pop/rap/r&b girls I’ve never seen Imani Coppola mentioned, which is a shame because she’s such an outspoken weirdo. (She portrayed herself as a black cowgirl literally before Lil Nas X was even conceived.) She has a huge discography that’s ripe for reevaluation, but a good place for pop fans to start would be her work as Little Jackie. Imani teamed up with producer Adam Pallin to release some more straightfoward pop music, and the blend of his lively throwback instrumentals with her fiery vocals and unusual lyrics was a winning one. Their music is loud and in-your-face, but there’s solid “older sisterly” advice underneath all the noise, and though they didn’t get a lot of commercial success they put out a few great albums. Made4TV in particular does a good job of balancing that classic Motown sound with rap, as well as her sardonic attitude with genuine heart.
Positives: Great nostalgia factor, good introduction to a fascinating artist, a fun “retro/urban” aesthetic
Potential Barriers: It’s loud and the production can be overwhelming, the lyrics are potentially obnoxious, somewhat dated
Sample Track: “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” showcases the album's fun melodies, sardonic attitude, and... unique lyricism.

Summer Of The Soda Fountain Girls by Blue Bottle Collection: (Theatre Pop)

  • For Fans Of: MIKA, Broadway, summers by the lake
Description: More of a vocal collective than a traditional band, front man Daniel Zaitchik centers the group around himself but he’s joined by a chorus of sweet voiced men and women who, with the help of spectacular musical and vocal arrangements, give the album a dreamy, fantastical feel. The songs wander through a summer’s day, bouncing between whimsical stories, lackadaisical musings, and moments of vulnerable self-reflection, all set to some of the best theatrical folk-pop around. There’s such joy and life in this album but it’s bittersweet, undercut by a sense of pathos brought about by the knowledge that every summer’s day has to end. Simultaneously an album about youth and growing up, it’s an attempt to capture something in music that’s otherwise entirely ephemeral; and, what’s more, it works. To me this album stirs up feelings of wanderlust and nostalgia, memories of a childhood I didn’t (and will never) have, but the false memories are still warm. Hopefully it can do the same for you.
Positives: Lush sonics, haunting vocals, some absolutely thrilling songs
Potential Barriers: A bit long, unconventional sounding, theatrical
Sample Track: “Chocolate Malt” is a great display of the unique, almost fairy-like energy of the album, and features lovely vocals.

What Otters Do by Shaina Taub: (Soul-Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Carole King, Sara Bareilles, songs that feel like they’re from your childhood
Description: There’s just so much heart and intelligence in everything Shaina Taub does. Her lyrics are filled with unusual imagery and wisdom, her melodies are lively, and her harmonies are always on point. If I ever get around to doing my writeup on her I’ll gush about all of her albums but I’m presenting What Otters Do here because it’s her first ever release and it’s fascinating. There’s electricity and heat on this EP, a young artist flexing her talents to see how much she can do. It draws a lot from the soulful stylings of artists like Carole King, Billy Joel, and Aretha Franklin but her unique artistic voice pushes through it all and creates some songs that feel truly one of a kind. Even her own later works aren’t quite like this explosion of color and light; albums like this are rare.
Positives: It’s endlessly creative and full of life, all of the songs are huge, it’s short.
Potential Barriers: It’s kind of a weird sounding album, these are “event” songs that might not be suited for casual listening.
Sample Track: “Make A Mess” never fails to put a smile on my face, one of my favorite songs, full stop.

2012:

All Of Me by Estelle (R&B + Rap)

  • For Fans Of: Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, overlooked r&b gems
Description: This album opens with a few truly heinous tracks where Estelle tries to establish herself as some kind of swaggering hip-hop bad girl, but these are a Trojan Horse because the rest of the album leans into a much more wholesome r&b sound. Danceable beats are combined with almost theatrical doo-wop influences and it’s a combination that’s aged surprisingly well. It’s very much an album about growing in to yourself and learning to be grateful, with wholesome messages and good vibes abound. Estelle’s husky voice is as buttery as ever and even if she tries a bit too hard some times, she manages to craft a lot of great lyrics and hooks that keep me coming back to some of the songs. This is a very ambitious project with tons of features (including a fresh faced Janelle Monáe!) and interludes, and while it’s a bit all over the place Estelle’s sheer talent makes it worth a listen.
Positives: Charisma, some super cute/uplifting songs, some old school r&b bangers
Potential Barriers: Some tracks are dated (and one song features Chr*s Br0wn), sound is rather all over the place, kinda long
Sample Track: “Love The Way We Used To” is a sweet love song.

Make Me Breakfast (2012) & Natural Disaster (2015) by Grace McLean & Them Apples (Singer-Songwriter)

  • For Fans Of: Bridgit Mendler, Fiona Apple, intimate friendship moments with your female bestie
Description: Grace McLean is one of those artists with such a magnetic presence that if you encounter her in basically any capacity, you like her. She’s got charisma for days, a sharp sense of humor, she’s gorgeous, and her brassy voice is immediately ear catching. And as if that wasn’t enough she’s a talented songwriter as well, releasing music with her trusty band Them Apples. Their first EP Make Me Breakfast is such a fun record, just five sunny, slightly humorous pop songs that show off her voice and the band’s great orchestrations. Their second EP Natural Disaster is much more experimental, LITERALLY taking us for a loop since much of the album is constructed via vocal looping. Several of the songs on the album are created using just samples of her voice, and it’s astounding that she makes fully fleshed out compositions from them. Beyond just the novelty value these are solid pop songs, with slightly darker subject matter and off-kilter but romantic lyrics.
Positives: Fun energy, great vocals, creative arrangements
Potential Barriers: Weird lyrics, both EPs are different
Sample Tracks: “My Friend’s Roommate” is funny but still catchy / “Natural Disaster” is such a weird but clever pop song

Synthetica by Metric (Synth-Rock)

  • For Fans Of: Blondie, Sleigh Bells, the emo bands of the ’00s/’10s
Description: Metric are an indie rock band who are just edgy enough to have a pop sensibility, they’re likely more popular than I’m giving them credit for but I rarely see them mentioned so I thought it would be worth it to bring up this fantastic album. Some tracks are straightforward, some tracks are more experimental, but most fall somewhere in between. These are the kind of songs that fill a room with their cavernous production; insistent percussion, shredding guitar, and big synths keep things consistently exciting and provide a great playground for the lead singer’s spunky vocals. The themes of the songs remain ever-relevant, delving into topics like the disenfranchisement of the youth, the problems posed by technology, and overall feelings of isolation. It’s not depressing, but it does pack a great punch.
Positives: Sharp lyricism, great big production
Potential Barriers: Loud, a bit esoteric
Sample Track: “Nothing But Time” is a sweeping synthpop song that still has their rock edge.

2013:

Children Of The Stars by The Orion Experience (Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Electric Light Orchestra, Marianas Trench, that period of time in the ‘10s where random indie bands kept getting huge hits
Description: Based in that beloved mid-2010s indie rock sound but with a dance-pop twist, this album overflows with energy. From the second the first track starts the album is a nonstop thrill ride of pure fun: every song has a huge melody and a ton of hooks. This album really believes that more is more, offering up disco beats, guitar solos, horn sections, and all sorts of fun tricks to keep the wave of energy going. This is a concept album with a story about love saving the universe, and so all of the songs have a campy sort of “space” aesthetic in the production and lyrics, with a cinematic feel to them that feels ripped from the Barbarella era of space operas. It would almost be too plastic if it didn’t still have a bit of that indie edge leftover, which keeps the album from being too overwhelming. This album is a forgotten time capsule of when music was painfully upbeat and optimistic.
Positives: Full of energy, fun pop perfection, great songs
Potential Barriers: Dated, kinda cheesy
Sample Track: “Children Of The Stars” is an immediate jolt of energy.

Go Back Home by Audra McDonald (Broadway)

  • For Fans Of: Joni Mitchell, Tori Kelly, healing music
Description: Audra McDonald is a master of her craft: her talents have made her one of the most awarded actresses working in theatre, and she brings all of that to this album. A collection of covers, she choses some established classics but more often than not opts for forward thinking songs from fresh composers, giving this album a very modern feeling. The simple arrangements allow the many shades of her voice to shine and create a relaxed, cabaret-esque feeling. Her soprano voice is beautiful but what really sells this album is the storytelling she does; she can fill a concert hall with her voice (and she does a few times on this album) but this album is so intimate. Few people can connect to a text quite like Audra McDonald can. Her performances on this album are stunning, and with each track it really feels like she’s right there with you telling you about love, life, and happiness.
Positives: Amazing vocals, soft thoughtful aesthetic, smart songwriting
Potential Barriers: It’s Broadway stuff which isn’t everyone’s thing
Sample Track: “Go Back Home” is touching and a little melancholy.

2014:

Femm-Isation by FEMM (EDM + Jpop)

  • For Fans Of: Charli XCX, Kesha, the pre-rock stages of the Poppy project
Description: Looking for something really commercial and plastic? This album was made by mannequins. FEMM (short for Far East Mention Mannequins) have a bizarre backstory about being leaders of an agency fighting to liberate sentient mannequins, and while this is strange it does accurately reflect this album: stylized and artificial sounding, but with messages of freedom and adventure. Drenched in autotune and #girlpower, wearing maximalist electronic production like armor, these pounding club songs capture the unapologetically fun spirit of the early 2010s perfectly while still managing to sound unique thanks to the subtle cyberpunk aesthetic. Pair all that with some fantastic visuals and we end up with a bombastic celebration of pop music from one of the most painfully underrated Jpop acts around.
Positives: HUGE pop songs, deceptively smart songwriting/production, it’s Jpop in English
Potential Barriers: It’s trashy and pretty dated
Sample Track: “Whiplash” is my favorite, a really smooth club banger.

Have Faith by Mary Testa & Michael Starobin (Artsy-Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Bjork, Tom Waits, thinking
Description: A collection of covers of everyone from Rodgers & Hammerstein to Shakespeare to Prince to Bjork to people you’ve never even heard of, this album is an avant-garde fusion of theatre and pop that’s full of surprises. Theatre legend Mary Testa’s nasal head voice and hard belt are polarizing and not conventionally “pretty,” but she’s a spellbinding performer who can bring a song to life like no other. She forms an electric center of this album, effortlessly bringing soul and humor to classic songs. Her collaborator Michael Starobin is a Broadway musical director who provides off-kilter arrangements that seem to detach the album from reality; there are so many interesting choices made on this album. It’s a phantasmagoria of music, with tracks fading in to each other to create a cohesive listening experience from front to back.
Positives: Heartfelt and thoughtful, sounds very different, lush music
Potential Barriers: It’s very out there, it’s meant to be a full listening experience rather than individual tracks
Sample Track: Her cover of Michael Smith’s “Sister Clarissa” is really sweet.

2015:

Adventures From The Ocean Of The Dead by Michelle Cross (Singer-Songwriter)

  • For Fans Of: Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, musical theatre
Description: This album is epic in the classical sense of the word in that it’s a sprawling piece of poetry telling a story, and Michelle brings out some slammin’ tunes that really bring the story to life. These songs are very memorable and deceptively catchy, Michelle knows her stuff as a composer and loads the songs with melodies from every direction; if you like piano riffs, this is the album for you. Michelle herself plays all of the characters (many of whom are male) but she’s a talented enough vocalist to pull it off; in particular she brings out a husky part of her voice that’s very appealing. Though the album gets off to something of a slow start, once the action hits the high seas it kicks into high gear and we’re treated to this wonderful phantasmagoria of crazy characters and situations, all brought to life by the magic of Michelle’s catchy melodies, lush piano arrangements, and paper doll art.
Positives: The songs are beautiful, there’s a wonderful sense of adventure to the album.
Potential Barriers: The album tells a cohesive story, all of the parts are played by the same singer
Sample Track: “Leucade’s Rock” is a haunting ballad for a mermaid.

Love Stuff by Elle King (Country + Rock)

  • For Fans Of: Pistol Annies, early Lana del Rey, dark “witchy” energy
Description: Elle King’s one-hit “Ex’s and Oh’s” has a bit of an edge to it but the saucy, flirty little number doesn’t quite prepare you for how surprisingly dark Love Stuff is. The album is gritty and moody, leaning into blues and a really cool southern gothic aesthetic that I'd describe as "a witch in the old west.". Elle has a fantastic voice that’s really evocative, able to bring both unbridled joy and intense yearning. Backed by heavy guitars and drums she paints a picture of a harsh and desolate world, which she responds to in equal parts with ferocity and pathos. In a lot of ways she follows the Lana Del Rey moody pop girl blueprint in how she toys with American iconography and the ways women cope and survive in this world, except with country guitars and fiery belts.
Positives: Great vocals, gothic aesthetic, strong collection of songs
Potential Barriers: This kind of country isn’t for everyone, maybe a few too many blues tunes
Sample Track: “Ain’t Gonna Drown” is an eerie, surprisingly haunting track.

Mickey Guyton by Mickey Guyton (Country)

  • For Fans Of: Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Hallmark movies
Description: There’s just four songs on here, but each of them fires off at full capacity. It’s pleasantly old-school country, which in a strange way makes it feel really fresh. There’s still a pop sensibility in the huge melodies/vocals, but the somewhat twangy arrangements call to mind country music at its very best. Mickey has a huge, expressive voice and her stellar performances on these songs are a major part of why they work so well. The songs are all about moving on from an ex-boyfriend and she belts it out with such fire that you have to root for her. There’s not much to say about it really, it’s just four great country bops. We’re still waiting for the followup!
Positives: Quick listen, accessible country songs, fun and catchy
Potential Barriers: It’s short, she might oversing at times
Sample Track: “Better Than You Left Me” broke the record for “the highest one-week add total of a country artist’s debut single in Country Aircheck history.”

Zanaka by Jain (World-Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Stromae, Shakira, the sun
Description: Though she’s French Jain spent much of her youth in Africa and the Middle East, marinating in the music and culture. The album wears these influences on its sleeve, but rather than simple imitation sounds and styles melt together and blend into something that feels fresh and exciting. There’s also traces of funk, reggae, and dance pop here, giving this album an even broader appeal and pretty unique sound that nobody else in the mainstream is quite doing, based in heavy percussion/beats with world music influences layered on top. Her distinctive accent and quirky lyrical style give this album a campy–but delightful–feeing. But most importantly this album is rich and warm, like listening to sunlight. Everything here, from the sound to the lyrics to the visuals, indicates that Jain thinks we live in a beautiful world and we should all appreciate it and love each other. And she makes it so damn good you can’t help but agree.
Positives: Brimming with energy, fresh and different
Potential Barriers: The album can get a little samey
Sample Track: “Makeba” is a massive bop with an amazing (Grammy nominated) music video.

2016:

Astrodreams by Polartropica (Dream-Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Oh Wonder, GFRIEND, Sailor Moon
Description: Polartropica are unknown but delightful. They claim their goal is to take their listeners to another, more magical world, and while your mileage may vary on that front they definitely serve up s fun electropop experience. Their whimsical viewpoint influences the sound of this album, which is very dreamy and leans into a spacey, aesthetic; it sort of sounds like the soundtrack to an adventure you might have dreamed up as a kid. There solid melodies and some great synths that add some kick, and I love the lead singer’s voice. There’s a solid message beneath all the style too, with the songs exploring themes of confronting and overcoming your past. The songs manage to feel strange and familiar at the same time, drawing from recognizable references but emerging as unique entities well worth the 15 minute runtime.
Positives: Short and sweet, cute energy
Potential Barriers: Might be too frothy for some
Sample Track: “Light Up The Sky” could be an anime theme song.

Catharsis by Jake Zyrus (Pop-Rock)

  • For Fans Of: Avril Lavigne, male rock stars whose names I don’t know so I can’t list them
Description: “Catharsis” describes the purgation of emotions, essentially the experience of “letting it all out” so you can grow and move on; it’s fitting then that this was the title for Jake Zyrus’s final album under the stage name Charice before publicly transitioning. There’s something of a loose concept to this album thematically, tracking the journey of a relationship that begins happy then grows painful until he comes out the other side happy and free. The album itself seems to transition as it goes along from the cheerful pop sound sung in light soprano that defined his early works into songs with a grittier rock sound sung with huskier vocals, transforming him for an album into a full fledged rock star pouring his soul out over wailing guitars. It’s a role he pulls off well, and it’s really cool to hear a pop star pull off an act like this so convincingly.
Positives: It’s that angsty pop-rock sound we all love
Potential Barriers: The writing can be amateurish, this was released before he transitioned so that might be a bit weird
Sample Track: “Killing Myself To Sleep” is a sprawling Nirvana influenced rock jam.

Disappear Here by Bad Suns (Alt-Rock)

  • For Fans Of: Walk The Moon, Misterwives, mildly successful but not quite mainstream indie bands
Description: This album feels fresh and exciting like the old glory days of the mid 2010s indie boom. While they didn’t have any towering hits Bad Suns emerged and saw some success during this period, and while it very much sounds like this era there’s a hint of some old school in there as well. It’s uptempo, sunny, slightly-synth/slightly-punk/really-pop alternative rock, with massive appeal and some real crowdpleaser songs. Bad Suns have a knack for catchy melodies and hot guitar licks, and they come up with memorable lyrics/song titles as well. This is the kind of album you blast while you’re riding down the coast with the top down, and if you can’t do that, it’ll help you feel like you’re there.
Positives: Fun, catchy, very bright energy
Potential Barriers: It’s got guitars and men
Sample Track: “Off She Goes” is super smooth and has some great guitar work

Leo Rising by Karmin (Pop)

  • For Fan Of: Katy Perry, Natalia Kills, impossibly pretty people
Description: Karmin were signed to a major label for a bit but left it when they realized that they weren’t being allowed to make the kind of music that they wanted (and because their album flopped but w/e) and since the first album they dropped after going independent was this good, it’s hard to fault them for their decision. They were allowed to flex their skills to the fullest and the result is a diverse album full of quality songs that touch on basically every genre you can think of. There’s touches of bubblegum, synthpop, hip-hop, rap, even vaudeville on here, and it’s all cohesive and interesting to listen to. The huge melodies, fun production, and agile vocals that made songs like “Brokenhearted” a hit are still there but they’re presented with a new maturity that keeps them from becoming grating. Each song on the album is loosely based on an astrological sign, a fun little gimmick that lets them explore a range of topics and moods.
Positives: A super solid straight-up-pop album, consistent from start to finish
Potential Barriers: Variety of styles means you might like some tracks more than others, white rap
Sample Track: “Easy Money” is my favorite.

WE ARE KING by (We Are) King (R&B + Dream-Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Blood Orange, Solange, opening your mind and feeling one with the universe
Description: We Are King belong to that special class of perfectionist auteurs who only drop music once in a blue moon but nobody cares because it’s always incredible. This is their only album and if they never released another they’d still be legends, peep the “Accolades” section for this album on Wikipedia. Their harmonies are literally heavenly, they sound like a choir of angels, and the dreamy music billows around them like clouds. The songs are a bit slow but that’s an asset: rather than immediate gratification they hit you with slow burns that take you on a journey. They gently guide us through stories about love and discovery that take us to another, softer world. This is the kind of album that can always calm you down and make your day a little bit better.
Positives: Lush sonics, amazing harmonies, gorgeous vibes
Potential Barriers: The songs are slow and long
Sample Tracks: “Hey” is the longest song on the album but it’s perfect.

2017:

The Cloud Dream Of The Nine by Uhm Jung Hwa (Dance-Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Madonna, Robyn, pop divas with huge legacies
Description: Having debuted in 1993, almost literally at the start of the Kpop industry, Uhm Jung Hwa dominated the scene in the ’90s/‘00s and established herself as the industry’s original “sexy girl.” She’s a legend, and her comeback album (released after almost a decade away from music) is an album befitting a legend. Based in disco/techno sounds, although it toys with a throwback sound it’s a very forward thinking album. It has an icy, almost cyberpunk sound that weaves together crisp percussion and intricate synth work with her cooly detached vocals that sound mature and regal. The whole project just feels tight and focused, oozing in charisma and confidence that these eager to please youngsters can only dream of projecting. A shot of star power from one of Kpop's truest legacy acts.
Positives: Short, legendary artist, crisp dance pop
Potential Barriers: It’s in Korean, a little different than the usual Kpop
Sample Track: “Ending Credit” is my favorite song, a mid tempo synth slow burn with a stunning music video.

Communicating by Hundred Waters (Indie + Electronic)

  • For Fans Of: Chairlift/Caroline Polachek, Be The Cowboy, #mood
Description: Hundred Waters aren’t exactly huge but they have made a small name for themselves in the music scene thanks to their somewhat quiet, thoughtful indie music, and with this record they pepper in some ever enticing pop influences to create captivating songs. Their music is like a duck paddling on water: smooth and calm on the surface, but a storm of activity beneath. Listen for the sonic tapestries they create if nothing else; the songs here feel somehow sparse and lush at the same time, every element blending together as if we’re listening to pure music rather than a collection of instruments. It’s soothing while still being engaging, which is fitting because much of the album is devoted to reflecting on love and loneliness. An album to lie in bed and listen to while staring at the ceiling.
Positives: Wonderful to listen to, engaging without being overwhelming
Potential Barriers: Songs can get a little samey
Sample Track: “Wave To Anchor” is a transcendent work of swirling synths and vocals, I’m still shocked it wasn’t a hit.

Rush by RIRI (Bubblegum)

  • For Fans Of: Yours Truly by Ariana Grande, the wave of blonde pop stars in the ’90s
Description: This is old school bubblegum, without a hint of irony to it. RIRI’s music is so bright and fun; the references and inspirations are very obvious but they’re made to sound so good they feel fresh all over again. Like, watch this clip of her dancing and tell me you don’t see at least a little bit of classic pop star in her. She has a great voice and she uses it to the fullest, if you’ve been missing huge pop choruses and dramatic ballads she has some for you.
Positives: Short, feel good music, tons of great pop music energy
Potential Barriers: Large parts of her songs are in Japanese, it’s not groundbreaking, kinda loud
Sample Track: “Rush” is a colossal pop song with an amazing chorus.

Tears On The Dance Floor by Steps (Dance-Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Kylie Minogue, Scissor Sisters, standing on top of a mountain in a fabulous gown as the wind blows
Description: Steps are a UK co-ed teen pop group who were HUGE around the turn of the millennium and after the usual messy breakup and middling solo careers they managed to actually have a proper reunion and start releasing albums almost a decade after breaking up. They make the jump from teen pop to adult(?) pop with surprising dignity, managing to bring maturity to their original sound without losing too much of its danceable appeal. It’s still just as cheesy, but in a more grown up kind of way. The chipper Y2K production is traded out for an orchestral disco sound that has more of a “club” vibe to it; the lyrics are melodramatic, but they belt them out with such conviction and the arrangements are so theatrical that it just works. Like the title implies it’s a lot of romantic songs, with huge beats and choruses that match the huge emotions they’re singing about.
Positives: Unapologetically big pop, nostalgia factor, danceable
Potential Barriers: Melodramatic, might get repetitive
Sample Track: “Scared Of The Dark” is dramatic in the best way possible.

Woman Titles by Hot Dad (’80s Synthpop)

  • For Fans Of: Weird Al Yankovich, Bleachers, ’80s movies without the problematic stuff
Description: Hot Dad is a comedy YouTuber who mostly makes joke music (you might recognize this video), but that doesn’t mean he’s lacking in musical talent. For this album he sets his sights on parodying the melodramatic try-hard pop of the ‘80s, and what results is a collection of surprisingly touching songs that slap harder than you’d expect. This album aggressively respects women, and while it’s played for comedic effect there is something sweet about the earnestness of it; this level of sincerity is so powerful it has to be filtered through a lens of irony. It helps that the synth-drenched production is genuinely fantastic, offering up some of the hard hitting synth-rock that would make the era proud. It really adds gravity to the lyrics, making things like “sharing a meal” and “having your parents meet” sound truly epic.
Positives: Hardcore ‘80s vibes, smart songwriting
Potential Barriers: Potentially obnoxious vocals/lyrics
Sample Track: “Girl Touch” is a swirling dance tune about the magic of… bumping a girl’s hand.

2018:

A Bnny Nghtmr II by Bnny Rbbt (Horror Pop)

  • For Fans Of: Lemon Demon, Halloween (as in, the holiday), eccentric high concept artists
Description: This album is a haunted house: “spooky” and grimy, but in such a plastic, campy way that’s kind of charming. It’s pop music viewed through the filter of funhouse mirrors, with genres being warped and twisted into unnatural forms. There’s a steadfast commitment to a horror movie aesthetic with broken down sounding instruments and dark themes, but the songs beneath the style are always listenable and memorable. The Bnny Rbbt character has a distinct voice characterized by inhuman growls and angelic (autotuned) falsetto, which is in some ways grating but in a lot of ways mesmerizing. It’s an “ugly-pretty” album of contradictions but the end result is a very unique project, and a possible Halloween classic. (Side note: It’s also a visual album, with an elaborate alternate reality game attached, if that’s your thing.)
Positives: An interesting aesthetic, spooky, songs can be addictive
Potential Barriers: The weirdness can be off-putting, polarizing vocals, might take a few listens to appreciate
Sample Track: “Guillotine” is subtly catchy and showcases many of the album's "gimmicks"

Coloured by Priscilla Renea (Country + R&B)

  • For Fans Of: Kacey Musgraves, Lil Nas X, modern historical dramas about black women
Description: You’ve definitely heard Priscilla Renea’s work before because she’s a prolific songwriter who’s worked with just about everybody, but she’s an amazing singer in her own right who’s dropped some far too underrated solo music. She’s spent years writing hits for pop/r&b artists, but unexpectedly it’s her country roots that most inform this album. She captures the storytelling spirit of country music on many of the songs with talk of boots, denim, and broken families abound. A rootsy country twang blends with modern sounding trap and 808s, and she brings further influences into the mix depending on the track. It’s a boldly genre blending album that preaches messages of acceptance, at times romantic and at times political.
Positives: Very fresh, good for country fans and pop fans, great vocals
Potential Barriers: Slower songs might drag
Sample Track: “Jonjo” is a funny little song that shows off her country/trap sound.

The Much Much How How And I by Cosmo Sheldrake (Folktronica + Indie-Folk)

  • For Fans Of: Surfjan Stevens, Hozier, Disney’s Fantasia movies
Description: Remember that one episode of SpongeBob where SpongeBob had to lure the jellyfish out of his house and back into the fields by playing a tune with just Gary’s eyeballs, and then the sounds of nature combined to make a song? That’s the best way I can describe what’s happening here on this album. The production on this album seems to have a life of its own, it bubbles up naturally as the songs wear on almost like it’s playing with us. There’s a quirky sound palate that sounds carnivalesque, but also medieval, but also somewhat electronic? It’s always boldly cinematic though, constantly evoking something even if you aren’t sure what it is. With his earthy voice he sings us folksy tales as if we’re kids around his campfire, giving the songs a solid indie-pop backbone underneath all of the pizazz. This is a wholly unique album that doesn’t quite sound like anyone else on the scene.
Positives: It’s different, colorful, songs are surprisingly catchy
Potential Barriers: It’s weird, might be too far from pop music
Sample Track: “Wriggle” shows off quirky sound of the album.

Seen It All by Shea Diamond (Soul + Blues)

  • For Fans Of: Alabama Shakes, Tina Turner, strutting down hallways
Description: With her unique voice and powerful songwriting Shea Diamond feels like a breath of fresh air. This EP is a scant five tracks but each one of them sounds like a hit! Offering up blues tinged songs about her experiences as a black trans woman in America, she brings a sound and perspective that’s sorely lacking in the mainstream pop scene. Her music is unapologetically sexual and political, but still bright and upbeat, which makes for a very interesting combination. There’s a foot stomping energy to her music that makes the songs feel anthemic, fully living up to the straightforward strength of her lyrics. Her voice is rich and gritty but has a warm tone, and her somewhat unpolished vocals are really fun to listen to over wailing guitars and slamming percussion. Her music brings light out in dark times, and it’s catchy to boot.
Positives: Strong vocals and songwriting
Potential Barriers: Political themes
Sample Track: She was signed after Justin Tranter heard her sing “I Am Her” at a rally.

Police Report from [Redacted] Arkansas, dated October 31st, 20[Redacted]
Reporting Officer: Stephen Wong
Detail of Event
Call received at 7:19 PM regarding what was believed to be gunshots from 413, Summer Crescent. Arrived on scene to find no immediate signs of a disturbance. Officer Lambert and I approached the door and knocked. There was no answer nor any reply from inside the house. Given the nature of the crimes reported, we chose to force the door open. We discovered four bodies.

The first was a female, apparently in her late 40s. Believed to be Olivia Walker. She was found in the kitchen. Cause of death is believed to have been a gunshot wound to the chest at close range. Officer Lambert discovered the second body in the hallway. A male in his early twenties who we could identify as Keith Walker. Cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest and face. The third body, found in the living room was a male in his early fifties, who is at this time unable to be identified but is believed to be Chuck Walker.

Officer Lambert discovered a sawn off, 12 gauge double barreled shotgun in the hallway, close to the body of Keith Walker. The gun was registered to Chuck Walker. We also heard what sounded like crying in a room down the hall.

Officer Lambert and I made our way down towards the source of the noise. We discovered one teenage female in that room, in the corner. She was curled into a fetal position and crying. There was blood on her face and clothes. There were visible bruises on her body but no other wounds. She did not react as we approached her. It was at this point that Officer Lambert called in. We took June Walker into custody at this time.

Officer Lambert would discover the body of a young male in his late teens in the basement during her search of the house, following the arrest of June Walker. The body that Officer Lambert discovered was older however the manner of death was also a gunshot wound to the head and chest. We were unable to identify the deceased.

Actions Taken:
Based on our discoveries in the Walker household, we placed June Walker under arrest for the murders of Olivia Walker, Keith Walker and Chuck Walker as well as the unidentified fourth victim. It is noted that she utilized her right to remain silent during the arrest.

End of relevant portion.

What follows is an excerpt from a transcript of an interview that was conducted with June Walker on November 1st 20[Redacted] regarding the murders of the Walker Family and the fourth victim, identified as Howard Marks. June speaks in a detached tone throughout the interview.

Transcript is as follows:

Interview with June Walker - November 1st, 20[Redacted],

Interviewer: June, may I ask. Why did you kill your Mother, Father and Brother?
June: They deserved it… You saw Howard, didn’t you?
Interviewer: You’re referring to Howard Marks, correct?
June: Yes. You found him?
Interviewer: The body of Howard Marks was recovered at the scene of the crime, yes.
June: Then you know why. When Daddy found out we were together… he got real angry. Howard said he’d take responsibility. Daddy didn’t care. They were yelling and fighting… Daddy was real drunk, y’know? Started hitting him…
Interviewer: Mr. Walker assaulted Mr. Marks?
June: Yes… He hit him ‘till his fists were bloody and Howard didn’t look like himself… He was spittin’ up blood. I kept yellin’ for Daddy to stop, but he just yelled back at me and told me I was a whore.
Interviewer: Because of the pregnancy?
June: (Inaudiable)
Interviewer: Please state your answers clearly, into the recorder.
June: Yes…
Interviewer: Thank you. Please, tell me what happened next.
June: (She takes a deep breath) Daddy… He told Keith to get the shotgun… He said… He said ‘I’m gonna teach this boy a lesson’. Keith went into the next room, he came back with Daddy’s gun. Then Daddy took it and he… he…
Interviewer: Mr. Walker murdered Mr. Marks with the shotgun.
June: (There is another long pause) Yes.
Interviewer: Is that why you killed Chuck Walker?
June: He told me he’d beat the whore out of me… I’d seen him do it to Mama before… Said he’d ‘beat that dogs seed out of me’... He and Keith took Howard down to the basement. They made Mama and me clean up the blood. T-there was brains on the floor. I saw them comin’ out of his skull…
Interviewer: Howard Marks was dead for at least three days before you killed the rest of the Walker Family. Is this correct?
June: Yes… Daddy got violent. He said he’d beat me. He did… I got to thinking the other night, he’s gonna kill me. I knew he was…
Interviewer: And so you decided to kill him first?
June: Yes. I got the shotgun from his bedroom… He kept the case unlocked. I took it, loaded it, went to the living room and saw him on the couch. I don’t remember what he said. I just pulled the trigger. His… face… There was a lot of blood…
Interviewer: What happened next?
June: Mama started screamin’ and screamin’. I got scared so… I… I shot her… Then Keith came running down the hall. He saw I had the gun and he stopped. I had to reload, cuz I knew he was going to come for me too. He saw me putting a new round in. He started running. But… I didn’t want him to. I shot him. He died.
Interviewer: So. You killed them all.
June: I did, yes.

Subject: Athena Recruits

Good morning Dr. HintonI’m sorry to hear about the recent passing of 13. He showed a considerable amount of promise. Fortunately, I’ve found a suitable replacement. By chance, you haven’t been following those murders in Arkansas, have you? Walker was a good man. Shame he died in such an awful way.

I got a call from a colleague in the area. He spoke with the girl responsible, Walkers daughter. She displays all the right qualities I believe that she is an ideal match for the program. With your permission, I’d like to have her transferred to Virginia for preliminary testing along with the others on the shortlist for becoming Subject 14. I have a good feeling about this one!

Let me know your thoughts on the matter. I’ve attached the relevant data. I think you’ll agree with my assessment.
Best regards
Sam

Excerpt From A Report on A-T414 by Dr. Elliot Hinton

A-T414 has successfully been synthesized in its liquid form after its discovery in Greece in 1992. I have spoken extensively with Alexis Mitsotakis, who was part of the team that first encountered A-T414 during their explanation of a set of ruins located off the coast of [Redacted]. Mitsotakis has provided photographs of the compounds effect on those who came into contact with it. He believes that they were killed by the Greek Government. I’ve included the pictures at the end of this report. There were three individuals significantly afflicted by the compound who are documented here.

Fleshy growths grew over his back. There was evidence of new bone and material growing there. The composition of the tissue changed. It was not believed to be human. Two solid growths with new bones could be extended from his back. They were triple jointed and had 4 long fingers measuring approximately 5 feet in length. A thin skin passed between all 4 fingers, and down the arm towards the second joint. With practice, [Redacted] was able to display limited flight capabilities however the growths were noted to be fairly fragile.

[Redacted] Male, 24
[Redacted] had much of his body exposed to the liquid form of A-T414. According to Mitsotakis, he was present during the initial discovery of the compound. The composition of his skin was seen to noticeably change, developing multiple growths. X-ray images of the subject (attached) show significant skeletal alterations and reinforcements. Studies showed that [redacted] developed additional muscle mass. Over a period of four weeks the growths on his skin began to elongate and become prehensile. A biopsy of these growths shows that they do not consist of human tissue. [Redacted] experienced significant neurological decay and after one month in captivity was killed during an escape attempt.

[Redacted] Female, 46
Subject had minimal exposure to A-T414. She stated that she only put her hands in and was wearing gloves at the time. On the hands of the subject, growths were discovered that matched the ones seen on the other two subjects. After a period of 2 weeks, these growths had developed new bone and muscle and operated as additional fingers. [Redacted] requested that they be removed surgically. The detached fingers have been kept as Sample B-19. Three months after the surgical procedure, [Redacted] stated that the fingers had grown back.

As can be seen from these cases, A-T414 can cause rapid changes in the composition and function of human flesh. What follows are notes from our trials of synthesized A-T414 on rats and capuchin monkeys.

End of relevant portion.

What follows is a brief description of Subject 13 from his autopsy report by Dr. Elliot Hinton

External Examination: The body was mostly consistent with that of a 32 year old black male. The body weighed 182 pounds and was 6’1” in length.

Rigor mortis had set in. Teeth were not consistent with a human skeleton and were abnormally set in the jaw. There were some human teeth that had been shifted by the growth of new bone. The eyes six eyes of the body were single color (green) and there were biting mandibles on the side of the face consistent with the oral application of A-T414.

Skin below the neck was normal but there were signs of growths and new skeletal development along the back from the recent attempt to replicate one of the subjects who initially encountered A-T414 in Greece.

Below the forearms, skin gave way to a spiked carapace. Fingers and hands were intact with joints in the exoskeleton covered by a thin membrane that allowed the digits to move freely. It should be noted that there was considerable muscle growth inside this carapace.

Subject: New Recruit Screening
Good evening Dr. Hinton.
As per your request, I’ve completed screening for the condition that 13 suffered for. Unfortunately, I had to eliminate a few candidates based on those criteria. They were sent back to their places of origin with no further comment and we commenced further testing on the remaining 6 candidates.

Test: A treatment of A-T414 on the left hand.

Candidate 1: Reacted well to the initial dose of the compound however continued observation has not been promising. While there is new tissue growth, the tissue seems necrotic. We will resume screening Candidate 1 for any genetic conditions that may be affecting his reaction to A-T414 however I would move to remove him from the program.

Candidate 2: Development is above average. We are seeing signs of a carapace forming however Dr. Marshall raised some concerns about Candidate 2’s mental stability. She was violent prior to testing and had made it difficult to observe the development of her hand up close. Dr. Marshall would like to see her terminated after an incident on Tuesday (See accident report C-152) but I see some promise in her.

Candidate 3: Has been destroyed as per protocol after a highly negative reaction to A-T414 (See report H-214)

Candidate 4: This one shows the most promise. Dr. Marshall was dubious about her given her pregnancy however I feel that it is in fact a boon. Besides, we’ve never had the opportunity to study the effects of A-T414 on subjects that are still in the womb. Despite the nature of her initial crime, 4 is even tempered and willing to work with us.

Candidate 5: Moderate growth. Results are similar to one of the Greek subjects with additional appendages growing. While the candidate is receptive, I feel that he cannot offer us much that we don’t already know.

Candidate 6: Our second best contender. There has been considerable muscle growth but no obvious changes until we examined him via X-ray. Additional doses of A-T414 may be needed but I think with time he may be a fine example of the properties of A-T414!

I will have the most promising candidates available for your review and I look forward to continuing to work with you on this project!
Best regards
Sam.

Notes On The Physical Examination of Subject 14 (June Walker)
Evaluation Performed by Dr. Elliot Hinton
**April 27th, 20[**Redacted]

Subject 14 continues to respond well to further treatment with compound A-T414. Physical changes have been mostly documented in the arms of the subject where the majority of the treatments have been applied.

X-rays show that there are no remaining traces of bone in either arm. The remainder of 14s skeletal system has remained in place. As seen in the attached X-ray images, the ulna, radius and humerus have dissolved completely however the scapula and clavicle have been reinforced to adjust to the new tissue that has replaced the arms of the subject.

The subject still has limbs that appropriate arms however these limbs are fully prehensile and can bend in any direction required. Subject 14 has demonstrated complete control over both new appendages. The tissue is no longer human and now has far more elastic properties. It is comparable to the flesh of a cephalopod although currently we have found no known cephalopods with a physical makeup identical to what 14 is displaying.

The hands of the subject have also developed. They no longer have five fingers or hands so to speak. These appendages have been replaced by a cartilage claw that can open into three segments. This claw seems to be capable of gripping objects however 14 prefers to use the elastic properties of her new appendages to wrap around anything she is attempting to grip firmly.

So far, it is unclear if A-T414 has affected her pregnancy. Ultrasounds have shown no abnormalities on the children in her womb (One male, one female) however we will have a better chance to look at them when birth is induced in the next 60 days.

14 has requested that we do not test on her children and Dr. Lawrence is adamant that we honor her request for the time being. 14 has been more cooperative than former subjects and I can see that he is eager to maintain this cooperation. However I find the potential of seeing the effects of A-T414 on the growing human body irresistible. I have filed a motion with Dr. [Redacted], our head of operations to approve testing on 14s offspring once they are born. I will need to be discreet about this. Dr. Lawrence will not be happy if he finds out what I’m working on. But this data is crucial to our further understanding of A-T414s mutagenic properties!

Email from Dr. Samuel Larence To [Redacted] Head Of Operations

Subject: You cannot do this!

I see that Dr. Hinton thinks he is clever, going behind my back. He may have your approval but not the approval of Subject 14! I have worked hard to maintain her cooperation in our experiments! 14 has been far more cooperative than any previous subject and my primary bargaining chip for ensuring this cooperation was the promise that her children would be unharmed and untouched by the program!

I’m assuming you are up to speed with the situation that broke out yesterday when one of her handlers attempted to take a child. I was there to witness exactly what became of him and I suppose if nothing else we have seen just how strong 14s new appendages are. How much force do you think is required to punch through a man? Far more than I am willing to trifle with, that’s for damn sure!

Fortunately, 14 did not try and break quarantine and has sealed herself inside her enclosure so only one person needed to die today.

I will speak with 14 about this turn of events. God only knows if she will continue to trust me after this fiasco and if she does, count yourself very lucky. I will discuss this with Dr. Hinton as well. I am aware that I am in no official position to make demands but given our current situation I think that this is warranted.

Any further activity with 14s offspring must be approved by me and by 14! You may argue that she has no say in what we do however considering that I watched her turn one of her handlers into a fucking shish-kebab today, I think we’d be wise to consult her these matters going forwards.

The documents following this and leading up to the second major incident are not of significant relevance to this release and any that might be are unavailable to me at this time.
Testing on Subject 14 resumed for the next 56 months, with limited results or changes as 14 was unwilling to be exposed to A-T414 any further. Testing needed to be done exclusively on her in her current state.

Subject: Stalemate
Dr. Lawrence

Given the recent stalemate we’ve had with 14 over the past 16 months, I think it’s time we reopened inquiries into her offspring.

After the deaths of Subjects 15 and 16, I’m forced to admit that 14 has been our greatest success. But even you must admit that there is no further information to be gained from her. We have had 14 in our custody for over 4 years now and [Redacted] has discussed terminating her!

I recognize that you do not want this, but you cannot keep defending the girl. You brought her on to this program. You were the one who administered the compound. Her current situation is your doing, not mine and not [Redacted]. If she’ll still listen to you, please try and explain this situation.

I am asking you nicely, Dr. Lawrence. I will not ask again.
Regards
Dr. Elliot Hinton

You know that she will not allow this. Even if she were to entertain the idea, I know she would refuse based on the experiments you’ve proposed for her daughter. For God's sakes Hinton she’s a 4 year old! A pregnancy would likely kill her!

My answer is no, and I am asking you with respect not to try and go behind my back again lest we have another body on our hands. Do you forget what happened the last time you tried that? I will speak with [Redacted] and see if we can find alternative arrangements for 14. I suspect that attempting to terminate her will not be easy and as I said before I’d hate to have another incident.

Incident Report
Employee Name: Brian Hughes
Department: Security
Incident Location: Sublevel 3, Sector 2. Holding cell 14-C1 and the adjacent laboratory.
Date: April 12th,
Time: 4:13 AM
Incident Details: At 2:32 AM on April 12th, a report was called in by an unidentified male (Believed to be Dr. Henry Malcom) saying that Subject 14 had grown agitated and breached containment. This was immediately following a discussion with Dr. Hinton. For unknown reasons, the subject of said discussion sent Subject 14 into a rage. Footage shows her becoming violent and Dr. Hinton hastily retreating from her enclosure. According to security camera footage, Dr. Hinton attempted to seal Subject 14 inside her enclosure however the footage shows Subject 14 prying open the door with her modified appendages. Two small children are seen behind her. Subject 14s face is obscured by the hooded sweater she is wearing. The hood is pulled up but she is identified by her elongated tentacles.

The two children remain in the enclosure while the science team currently in the lab reacts. Dr. Samuel Lawrence is seen moving towards Subject 14 and attempting to speak with her. Dr. Hinton can be observed fleeing the room. It should be noted that the door he exits through was locked when security investigated the incident and Dr. Hinton is believed to have locked it.

Subject 14 is seen to yell at Dr. Lawrence, and continually displaying hostile behavior before she pushes him out of her way. 14 gestures to the children to follow her and moves off camera. The feed shows Dr. Lawrence getting up and attempting to pursue 14 before the power goes out and the footage ends. No additional footage was acquired from the supplemental cameras.

Our investigation into the scene revealed three corpses belonging to Dr. Samuel Lawrence, Dr. Henry Malcom and William Johnson, one of Subject 14s handlers. Mr. Johnson was found in the hallway, four feet from the destroyed doorway leading out of the laboratory. He was embedded in a wall with brute force. Dr. Malcom was found in a hall approximately 30 feet away, having been pierced through the sternum and Dr. Lawrence was located at the bottom of the elevator shaft leading to the main floor.

Footage from the lobby shows Subject 14 arriving via the elevator and exiting the facility with both children. 14 encountered four different members of the security division and is clearly seen attacking and killing all four men before ripping the door of the facility off of its hinges and exiting the facility.

An interview with Dr. Hinton states that he is unaware why the power suddenly shut down in Sublevel 2. He seemed concerned that someone had tampered with the generator in that sublevel. He also claimed that Dr. Lawrence attempted to assist Subject 14 in her escape, which was why he attempted to lock them in. He states that after tearing the doors off the elevator, Subject 14 threw Dr Lawrence to his death in the elevator shaft.
We will continue to investigate this matter.

Audio Transcript From The Morning Of April 12th.
Sublevel 3, Approximately 2:25 AM.

Audio recovered from the background of a phone call made by Dr. Harrison to his wife. Dr. Harrison had dropped his phone and fled as soon as Subject 14 escaped her enclosure.
The audio begins with the sounds of screaming and of metal groaning. The voice of Subject 14 is clearly audible as she forces open the door of her enclosure.

Dr. Lawrence: June! Wait, wait! Stop!
14: Why? Why the hell should I listen to you? You lied to me.
Dr. Lawrence: No! No I didn’t. I kept my end of the bargain I-I had no say…
14: Liar! You knew they were tryin’ to take her didn’t you?Dr. Lawrence: I told them no. Just like I said I would! It’s Hinton, for fucks sakes he’s gone behind my back again! I kept my word June! I swear I did.
14 pauses. She seems to be thinking.
Dr. Lawrence: June, please. Don’t do this.
14: No… I’m done. You ran your fuckin’ tests. You did this to me. I let you do this to me because you promised. You promised I’d have my babies. That they wouldn’t be touched. That was the deal, Dr. Lawrence. That was our deal!
Dr. Lawrence: And I’ll uphold it, just please-
14: No! I’m done. I’m leaving. It’s been four years and I’m done. Now either you get out of my way… or I will kill you.
Dr. Lawrence is silent for a moment. Subject 14 is heard moving and calling for her children.
Dr. Lawrence: Wait...
Subject 14 goes silent.
Dr. Lawrence: The cameras. They’re still on… Goddamnit… I told Hinton you wouldn’t take this well. I warned him up front. Give me a moment… I’ll cut power to the floor. The elevator will still function, it draws from the main generator but you’ll need a thumbprint to operate it.
14: You planned this?
Dr. Lawrence: I planned for it. I’d hoped I might talk you out of it, but there’s no use… I can’t protect them anymore. Not from Hinton and not from the people above him. Wait for the power to die. Then do what you must…
Both are silent for a moment. Subject 14 is heard moving towards the door and Dr. Lawrence is heard following her.
14: Thank you, Doctor…
The audio records the sound of the door being torn open, as well as the murder of Mr. Johnson. A scream is heard followed by a dull thud. Any further sounds are faint and unintelligible.

Subject: RE: Inside Help
Good Morning Mr. Hughes.
Thank you for informing me of the fruits of your recent investigation into the recent escape.

I’ve located the individual who assisted Dr. Lawrence in aiding the escape of Subject 14 and have had him dealt with accordingly. Our new Subject 17 has displayed quite the aptitude for hunting live prey and it was quite useful to my research to see him in action against a human target. I’ve recorded the footage to be reviewed at a later date.

In response to your inquiry regarding Mr. Goldings statement that I was the one who pushed Dr. Lawrence into the elevator shaft, Mr. Golding is simply misremembering events. I was at the elevator shaft, yes but it was simply to try and help Dr. Lawrence avoid his grisly fate. Unfortunately it’s my word against his as there is no video to prove otherwise. That said, I would love the opportunity to have a chat with Mr. Golding and set the record straight.

Please, keep me informed of any updates regarding the location of Subject 14 or her offspring.
Cheers
Elliot Hinton

I’ll dismiss the claims regarding the death of Dr. Lawrence. As you said, it’s your word against Mr. Goldings and he may be misremembering things. He was under a great deal of stress. I trust you two will reach an agreement.

My team tells me that they will continue to search for Subject 14. Their recent encounter ended poorly and cost me three good men. I am optimistic that they will pick up her trail soon. On a related note, I’ve received your kill order and will relay it to my team. Hopefully the autopsy of Subject 14 can be of use to you. Likewise my Team is aware that they must keep the children alive as per your request.

This ends the relevant documents regarding the acquisition and escape of Subject 14 (June Walker)

I now address you directly Dr. Hinton, as I know that you’re reading this you paranoid fuck. You made a grave mistake in assuming that Dr. Lawrence only had one person helping him. Maybe you’ll find me. Maybe you’ll kill me like you did Lawrence, Golding and Richards.

It’s only a matter of time until June Walker comes back and given her track record when it comes to people who’ve pissed her off… Well. Good luck. You’re going to need it.

Elliot

Email from Dr. Elliot Hinton to Brian Hughes

Dr. Hinton

Regards
Brian Hughes

This ends the relevant documents regarding the acquisition and escape of Subject 14 (June Walker)

I now address you directly Dr. Hinton, as I know that you’re reading this you paranoid fuck. You made a grave mistake in assuming that Dr. Lawrence only had one person helping him. Maybe you’ll find me. Maybe you’ll kill me like you did Lawrence, Golding and Richards.

It’s only a matter of time until June Walker comes back and given her track record when it comes to people who’ve pissed her off… Well. Good luck. You’re going to need it.

  48. Travis Scott: no tour dates other than Lolla South America in March and April, Coachella in April, and Rolling Loud in May
  49. U2: No tour dates currently
  50. Tame Impala: adding him to the list because of the interest, though prior precedent rules him out. His tour hits the Chase Center on Mar. 13th and his tour ends Aug. 7th at the Gorge in Washington, so Aug. 9th at OSL is the most viable date for him if the Chase Center show hasn't ruled him out.
Based on the above info, best bets appear to be Foo Fighters, Kendrick Lamar and Sting or Aerosmith as the legacy act. After that, maybe Lady Gaga, Travis Scott, and Diana Ross. Most of the names on the list aren't touring, so unless they are an OSL exclusive or will be awaiting the OSL announcement to kick off a Fall/Winter tour in support of a new album (Coldplay? Springsteen?), they are unlikely.

2020.02.04 21:56 VirtualRealityCzech Bluesfest? Queen?

UPDATE: BLUESFEST CANCELLED
https://www.tbnewswatch.com/local-news/thunder-bay-blues-festival-cancelled-for-2020-2089765
Has anyone heard anything about the "Bluesfest" this year? I heard some talk that it was not going to happen this year.
I also heard a rumour that Adam Lambert & Queen were coming to TBay, but looking at other previous dates on their tour, including venue size and $$$ haul I find this highly unlikely.
